:cry2: I have enough on any news feed. I don't come to PS anymore because I don't need more of the same. Painful.

Oh, @whitewave.
Stay in your own damn lane, would you?
Honestly, we all know that guns don't kill people. If you really must make a fuss - thoughts and prayers are always most helpful.

I scrolled past something on FB... about how we might just get somewhere if we stopped calling it "gun control" and started calling it "gun reform". How about we call it "gun control reform"? And then, y'know, reform gun control instead of wailing about how we're just too unique and special for policies that work in so many other parts of the world to be effective here...

It is a sad and terrible reality that the demons behind the NRA's pocketbook will probably only realise the tragedy of their inhumanity when they themselves - or their loved ones - are victims of gun violence. Until it's them, though... oy, you there, get off my yard.

Yup, I’ll stay in my lane with thoughts and prayers :wall:

I am missing it all. My daughter broke our television last night and I have no cable news in our bedroom. My husband is here for the holiday and since my daughter refuses to give up her place in my bed to let him sleep with me, he is in her room with her television. I don't have a clue what is going on in the world other than what the on-line version of "The New York Times" tells me. "The New York Times" does not cover shootings the way television does. One gets a summary at best.

Do 3 or 4 dead even count as a mass shooting anymore? The one in CA with 12 dead barely registered; I can't even remember what city it was in.

When the shooter knows at least one of the victims, does it make it easier to comprehend (and therefore less horrifying)?

Chicago would not have made the news if the police officer had not been killed. Just another domestic violence case in the city.

The shooting at the Chicago Hospital received a lot attention in Chicago yesterday. It was on the network channels for hours yesterday as it played out. I can only imagine how agonizing it was for people who were not able to get in touch with their loved ones who worked or were in the hospital.

The shooter knew the young doctor that was killed. I’m not sure of her age. They were engaged and supposed to be married in October. She cancelled the wedding in September. He shot her multiple times in the parking lot, then proceeded to shot and kill a 28 year old police office who was the father of three children. He then walked in the hospital and killed another young woman who was 25 years old.

Nothing makes these shooting less horrifying. All the lives of people who loved these people will be forever altered.

I wish our country valued people the way they value their guns. The NRA can go to hell.

I think it still would have received a lot attention in Chicago @AprilBaby due to the fact it happened in a hospital.

I’m not disparaging the other victims killed and I agree that a hospital shooting is terrible, I just think the news here focused only on the officer for hours and that made it a bigger story. I hate guns.
