the last three rings I've had made by BGD have been in 18K white gold (note my E ring was supposed to be rose gold but they made it in 18k WG instead which I accepted as I was just desperate to get the ring at the time!)

Point being, I have regret not sticking with my RG choice on these three rings. One was the BDG marquise and round eternity with pink sapphires and white diamonds, and the other two are my plain Grace wedding band, paired with the Eternal Grace ER.

Regardless, here I am ready to purchase an eternity band and thinking I should finally go for the 14K RG I love so much - my original engagement ring and band were both RG, but when I upgraded I changed to white gold.

Just wondering whether it will look odd to put an RG eternity between the WG ER and band? I have seen many mixed stacking bands and they look fine, but there is something to be said for a well matched engagement set.

If I have time later I might run a poll, but in the meanwhile please offer me our advice. On the side, I think I will end up wanting to change my Ering setting to RG if I have the eternity in RG, which will mean wasting a very beautiful engagement setting which does bother me a little as it seems I up having a lot of investment in settings, which could have been put towards diamond upgrades!

Thanks :)

Over the long haul, I think you'll be glad you have the white gold. I think over time there is a greater possibility you'd tire of the rose gold if the whole set was rose gold. Certainly you can wear a rose gold band with the two white gold bands. People here do it all the time. Yenny comes to mind (platinum and rose gold), and I'll attach a picture. You can make the band in rose gold, and if for any reason you don't like the look, you can always have the band rhodium plated. But I think having the middle ring in rose gold would be very pretty!

I love the look of rose gold with white gold.

I l  ve the look - but I'm a little biased :rodent:

A few pics of my stack to give you an idea of the kind of look you'll get (hope they're helpful to you). You'll either like the difference in colour or not......

Wow me&myboys your collection is gorgeous!! Do you ever wear just the ER/wedder and the RG eternity? You have amazing hands too!

Thanks so much for sharing - I love it!

DS thank you for the photo and your thoughts. I have almost a 50/50 mix of RG and white gold, really can't make my mind up at all, but nice to be able to go either way, or mix and match. I guess I wonder if I should keep the set matching in WG and get a separate RG stacker sometime to mix things up, versus getting the Dream in RG with my only reservation the fact I know there will be some wear issues as time goes by.

Sky56 - I do too!

Hi there,

First, kudos on having the notion of considering changing things up. I know that's an odd thing for which to give kudos, but in my experience too many people settle with jewelry that doesn't make their heart sing to look at it.

Personally, I quite like rose gold. I think it's an under appreciated color and statement on its own. It often pairs better with white gold than most think it would, and can bring some warmth to the stack without being as bold as yellow gold.

I would take time to consider the slight color differences between 14k and 18k rose gold. It's hard to capture in digital images, so going and seeing them in person can be very fruitful. You might find you have a certain preference for one over the other when stacking with these particular white gold rings.

This sounds like a fun project, and I'm looking forward to hearing more. :wavey:

Thanks Sirguy

I am actually wearing an old 18k RG fine wedder at the moment between my WG ER and wedder to get used to the look and see how I feel, and I do in fact have an old 14k RG setting by BGD (which used to hold my cushion before the reset) so I have been playing with that also and i can certainly see the difference between 14k and 18k. I have quite pale and roseish coloured skin, so I find the warmth of 14k works well on me.

I want to get this right and have no regrets! My ER stone is 1 carat so very modest by PS standards but here in Australia its really mid range. Not flashy, but reasonable. I have large hands though so it does get a little dwarfed! My husbands likes a very simple style and setting, but I find in compromising to his tastes I'm not quite satisfied!

That's great that you've had the opportunity to play around with the colors and that. I think you're on the right track. Now, as far as your husband having different tastes than you...my official position is with the boys, but just between us, you're the one wearing it! If wearing something beautiful doesn't make you happy then it's not fun to wear. :D

Can we get a pic?

I think it sounds lovely . I wear a trinity with WG e ring and I love the contrasting yet coordinating colors . I would be sad of my set was all one color

Personally, I would do the dream band in white gold. I like the rose gold band to be a special shape like meandmyboys' ring above or something like Yenny's engraved band. A straight diamond band I think would best go at the bottom of the stack in wg and then the rose gold band in the middle.

I love the look of mixing RG with WG, and it is exactly what I plan to do! I love RG with my skin tone (especially 14k with its pinker tint), but I was concerned that I might someday tire of it as a setting for my ER. So I will be wearing a WG ER with a RG band, and hopefully adding another WG band beneath. My fingers aren't as long and elegant as Me&myboys (beautiful stack!! ), so I am waiting on my new ER's arrival (hopefully today!) before I decide on the WG band for the stack, but I absolutely love the non-matchy band and ring look.

I have been currently wearing a pear shaped sapphire in a halo with a YG band gifted by my H in our early marriage, with a WG sapphire eternity band, and even though that sapphire pear was never a favourite of mine there is something about the non-matchy set together that modernizes the look for me, and I have been really enjoying them.

As helpful as it is to get others opinions, I think it's better to go with your instincts. Not everyone has the same taste, so don't make your decision based on others. Get what YOU love :appl:
