Anyone want to help me find a cocktail dress?

PS'ers have impeccable taste so I'd LOVE to have your input on a dress situation I have. DH bought us tickets to a jazz concert at the end of the month (Wynton Marsalis with Jazz at Lincoln Center - LOVE them!) and I have no idea what to wear. The concert is at a small but very nice concert hall here in St. Louis and is at the end of the month so it might be a bit chilly outside (I can always wear a wrap or dressier coat).

I'm a tall, curvy girl - 5'8" usually a size 8, 10 if the dress runs small. I have a black halter Adrianna Papell cocktail dress that I LOVE but end up wearing everywhere. Any suggestions?

Oh, and here's a pic of me from my wedding dress search to give you an idea of what you're working with :)

Here is the Adrianna Papell dress I have and LOVE:
http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/adrianna-papell-ruffle-halter-dress/3127795?cm_cat=datafeed&cm_ite=adrianna_papell_ruffle_halter_dress:238367_4&cm_pla=dresses:women:dress&cm_ven=pixazza&mr:referralID=NA&mr:trackingCode=D5E7D10F-77A5-DF11-904F-002219319097

I'm hoping for something cute and classy, open to just above the knee to very long. I really like reds and maroons and they go well with my fair skin but I'm completely open to other colors as well.

I like this one, not sure if it is dressy enough:

I really like this one in Aubergine but I'm not sure what color shoes I would wear:

Any input is appreciated!

I'd wear a little black dress (with a little embellishment if you can find one) with a shoulder wrap. I have a Jones NY LBD that's got cap sleeves, kind of a slightly below the knee length with some bead work just around the scoop neck and I wear a velvet burnout shoulder wrap with it. It's become my "go to" ensemble when I can't decide what to wear. Check out the stores that carry Jones NY like Lord & Taylor. They always have a bumper crop of LBDs in Fall and Winter because of the holidays, both plain and fancy.

Seems like you like A-line dress. With your figure, I would try some sheath dress to show of your body.

Here's some:

http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/nicole-miller-open-back-jersey-sheath-dress/3001563?origin=category - this one is jersey, so might not be dressy enough.

The ones you posted are really cute! I'd probably just wear the ruffled one that you love. It's the most budget-friendly option.

I doubt you have enough time for this if your concert is at the end of September, but if you have an old bridesmaid dress that you don't like, you can send it in to http://www.newlymaid.com and get a reduced price on a little black dress. They only have 6 to choose from, but I like a few of them.

I love the aubergine one. I'd wear pewter shoes or silver with that one.

OMG! Sorry it took so long to get back to you all! You guys totally rock! I'm loving the dress ideas so far!

Gemgirl - Your description of your LBD is exactly what I love to wear. I have three LBD's that I wear to work (with a jacket), out to nice lunches (with a cardigan) or out to dinner (with some bright pretty heels and a fresh mani!). LOVE them. Jones NY isn't a store I usually shop but I keep getting recommendations to check them out so I MUST go by. I am an avid online shopper and usually avoid the mall like the plague but I need to drag myself in and try some of their stuff on. Thank you!

qtiekiki - You are so right! I usually go for A-line dresses because I'm fairly self conscious about wearing something form fitting or something I perceive as too short. I really should try some more sheath dresses to see how I feel in them. I need to grow some self confidence!

The Betsy & Adam dress you posted first is adorable (http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/betsy-adam-pleat-bodice-stretch-satin-sheath-dress/3214799?origin=category) but I LOVE the Nicole Miller dress (http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/nicole-miller-open-back-jersey-sheath-dress/3001563?origin=category). I may actually go to Nordstrom's this evening and check it out.

jstarfireb - I do love my ruffled one but feel like I wear it to death! I even wore it in our engagement photos! I hadn't heard of newlymaid - that is a really cool idea!

Gypsy - The Aubergine is SUCH a pretty color, the silver heels you posted would be perfect! I actually looked at the Donna Rico dress you posted (http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/donna-ricco-ruffle-trim-charmeuse-sheath-dress/3234418?origin=category) the ruffles totally make the dress! The Suzi Chin you posted is sooo chic! And it's super affordable! (http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/suzi-chin-for-maggy-boutique-stretch-satin-sheath-dress/2978356?origin=category)

Dani - You are such a sweetheart! You made my day :)

Thank you all so much for your help! I am going to pop over to the mall this evening and see what I can find. I'd like to get something this weekend while my DH is out of town so I can surprise him when he gets back! Plus, I won't have to drag him along to shop with me!

Thanks again and if you find anything else I would LOVE to see it. I'll post pictures if I find more ideas :)
