I fell down the rabbit hole the other day looking for something completely different and next thing I know I'm obsessed with flat weave Turkish bath towels! I ordered some from Costco, which arrived yesterday, went promptly in the washer, and I used them this morning. I *think* I like them (although who can tell if you really like anything after one use -- maybe I just really WANT to like them). The Costco ones are WHITE as a base color with various stripe options. I'm now looking at different colored ones on Etsy but wonder if a voice of reason should weigh in before I got bananas and fill my house (two houses!) with these things... Anyone else use these?

hmm... now I'm curious! I usually get the $6.99 (?) bath towels they sell in costco and I like their plushness and how they dry hanging on a towel bar and in dryers.

Beanie, these towels are pretty much the opposite of those (which I also have!). They are flat weave (think sack cloth dish towel... kind of). They dry very fast, which is appealing because every day after we shower at the boat house we stick our towels in the dryer or else they would never dry out there on the water, and they take For.Ev.Er. I'm hoping these are a good option (especially now that I've bought eight of them in two different colors, ha ha). They can be expensive -- the ones I first saw reviewed were about $65/each, so when I found them on Costco in a two pack (because you can't buy just one of anything at Costco) for $48.99 I jumped on them. I just wish they weren't WHITE. Like Snow Blind White!

Like these? They look wonderful. Are they heavy?

I have been eyeballing those for a few months now---would love to hear how you think they work for a bath towel or a hand towel. I love the look but wonder if they would be sufficient for drying off with wet hair---I have thick shoulder length hair and usually stick it in a towel for about 10 minutes after washing.
How is the absorbency?

Keep in mind I only used it once, however I actually found it VERY absorbent. I have short hair, but I still towel dry it and then keep the towel wrapped around my head while I slap on some moisturizer, etc., and this did a better job than my regular cotton loop towels. These towels (are you thinking of the Costco ones or different ones?) are pretty big -- they're 30 X 70 -- so you might double the towel before wrapping your hair up.

I've tried Turkish towels 3 times, but never stuck with it. I actually find that Turkish towels need to be washed at least 5 times before they get comfortably soft and absorbent; otherwise it leaves a film of water on my skin. (I like new terry towels to be washed at least 3 times before I use them.) Inevitably, I revert to normal terry towels (I have heavy and light weight ones) and make kitchen rags of the Turkish towels.

Interesting -- thank you for that info! I will run these through the wash a few more times tonight.

I only use Turkish towels in the bathroom for showering. I even take them with me on vacation because they are so easy to pack. So absorbent and so quick to dry !
