Maul stores want you to come back every six months or so to ''inspect'' your ring??

We got engaged the other nite and she was ecstatic with the diamond I purchased from JA. Later that nite she asked me if we would have to send the ring back to them every six months for inspection and I told her no - she is used to the Z stores policies and practices. She asked me why and I honestly didn''t know why.

Anyone know why????

1: Its a good idea to have it inspected and cleaned at least once a year.
2: to get you in the store to sell you something else.
3: to weasel out of the warranty as a lot of people don''t follow up.

good one Storm! I just take my ring into a store when I am nervous something might be loose. I only do that like 1x a year; insurance is great for peace of mind.

That''s about right.

They re-dip it if it''s white gold, and check to make sure all the stones are tightly in place. My ring is like this, I bought it at Jared''s. I kind of like it - it means I get to make it look brand new all over again. I always wonder how this would work with online purchases...does it mean you have to get re-dipped yourself at a local jeweler?

Just a small correction it is rhodium plating not dipping in white gold.
This used to be a free service but with the insane price of rhodium a lot of places are charging for it.
Even the mall stores are starting to put a time limit on it being free.
Yes if you buy a white gold ring online you need to find someplace local to replate it and for inspections.
$20-$40 is becoming a common fee for doing so.
