We didn''t have a long conversation. She asked my ring size..platinum or white gold..center stone. If it gives you that little more "umph" then THAT is the one. I know exactly what you mean b/c there were several settings I liked but MY setting is the one that made me tear up when I saw it. Too bad you couldn''t get the style# from RB. That would have made this process a lot quicker and easier for you.
I hope your jeweler doesn''t say no. At first I was dealing with EE Robbins and they didn''t have the setting in store and they didn''t offer to pull it in. Once they knew I was interested but really needed to gauge it in person, they offered to order it in. Maybe the sales person isn''t even aware that they can do this. You can let her know that another Simon G retailer was able to and if she contacts their Simon G contact, they should be able to assist with sending it to the store. Easy.

Your dog sounds adorable. A handful but adorable. No wonder she is hard to get inside. She must be a big girl. You''ll have to post pics of her sometime.

She told me Simon G does not give rings on memo..whatever that means. I''m also not excited about the diamonds she is selecting...I''s and some EGL''s..I told her GIA and AGS only and G-H range. Here we go..another horrible experience. I can find some very nice ones online for our price range..very frustrating! Anyhoo, at least I''ll go try on and see! She was able to give me the Simon G style/stock number: MR1501. She said I should be able to go onto their website and find it. I will do that now!

A big BOO to her! Anyways, moving on ... Check with the other Simon G vendors in your area ... Just give them a call and see if they are willing to do it for you ... after all you KNOW it''s possible.
How about this ... Can you tell her that your budget may be more "flexible" and ask her to pull in some "nicer" stones? Maybe you''re being too nice.

Insist on what it is that you would like to see don''t let her dictate to you what you''ll be forced to look at. This annoys me. Where do these people get off? You said, G & H. Get G & H stones for you to look at. Easy peasy!

My only concern is that it might still be too high for just a setting. A round 1.29 that she has was about 8500..so we would be a little over his budget so have to have a sit down with bf.
When you bought your stone from them did you see it in person? This sight unseen is really hard for me!

Proposal..I have no idea..maybe summertime or something? That part is going to be a complete surprise and I am fine with that. What is the pricing on the other setting? Is it a lot lower?
I ask b/c maybe you can justify it to bf b/c the other setting + tax may be around, or just a little bit less, than this one and this is the one you''ve stated you really want. This way all the money is going to the setting - more bang for you buck - none of the money is being "wasted" on tax.

You were looking for around $6 - 7K for a diamond, right? Why don''t you ask her what she can get in that range ... even if you step down the carat weight a little ... even 1.15 - 1.20 might make a huge

difference but not much of a visual difference, right?

When I bought mine, we had no idea we were going to ... again, I didn''t want to be there but my bf took my little spreadsheet in to her so she knew what I wanted and she called in a few stones and I looked at those plus some they had in house. The minute I saw mine & the cert ... I knew it was exactly what I wanted. I could have bought it sight unseen and been comfortable with it.

You do make a really good point. It is hard to do. I am fairly certain that if you tell Mary exactly what you are looking for and what is or isn''t okay, she will not disappoint but just like WF, if you are not happy, you can rtn it, right?

Okay .. Now down to business ...

The bf not being sold ... No big deal. Both settings are gorgeous so unless YOU really want the Simon G, the other one is lovely perfection as well!

I definitely think that you should visit a different Robbins Bros location and go with a completely open mind. Now - if they start to toy with you and make you upset, vocalize your concerns and your previous bad treatment. After all, you don''t care what they think ... you have an end goal in mind. You need to see that setting to determine if ''that'' is the one or if you are craving it for no reason b/c it just isn''t as perfect as you thought. To be quite honest, I think that you will likely have a better chance of Robbins Bros ordering in that ring for you and actually getting the sample from Simon G than you do with that other dealer ... could have something to do with the volume of sales that they do etc. EE Robbins was the store that ordered my setting in for me, no prob. You might even share that with them. I believe that EE Robbins is one of the Robbins Bros who defected and went off to do his own thing in Seattle.

You do have the strength and patience b/c ultimately you know that your business will not go to them. You''re just getting them to do the legwork so that you can have your dream ring. Sounds awful I know and I would never, ever recommend this under normal circumstances, especially if the customer service was top notch but, in this case, it seems like the perfect revenge of sorts.

Just a fun and vindictive thought I thought that you might enjoy given your present state of mind.

Glad the diamonds are okay ... Gosh ... can''t imagine anywhere else I would be when you are ready to start really looking. I know, just know that I did have things to do before I started with Pricescope. Spending so much time on Pricescope is awful but I''m so addicted!

I want to be 100% sure on which setting I like more and I think the pic of that hand shot will help a lot better than just the stock pic we are using now!

Now to throw another ball into the air, my bf contacted a jeweler in LA who we met with in the past (at a local show here and I wasn''t too impressed but his best friend got his wifes Tacori ering and wband from him and they are beautiful plus he got a good deal) and this LA guy said he had a setting VERY similar to the Simon G and he would email pics. Personally, I don''t believe him. He said he had something VERY similar to the Michael B that I loved and when I go to meet him, he didn''t have anything so we''ll see what pictures he ends...
