I found it on Firenze''s site but does anyone know of any where else where I might be able to find this Simon G? (I''ll most likely have to special order to have it hold a princess stone)

Thank You!

Okay Angel ... You''re killing me here ... I LOVE that setting! and I''m always willing to enable you to get a Simon G setting.
31.gif
Love them!

I went to the Simon G website and pulled up the dealer locator tool. Click here This should help you.
Warning - ignore the Robbins Bros locations ... the other ones should be just fine.

I''ll see if I can find a style number for you as this will make it a lot easier to find pricing etc. for whichever jeweler you choose.

Check out the rest of the Simon G website as well. When you first key in the website address, it comes up with an intro of sorts and it shows you this great Simon G ringbox that you will get with your "authentic" Simon G ring purchase. I love it. I can''t wait to get mine.

I''m affraid I can''t help, just wanted to say that''s a very pretty setting!

Spark - I'm killing myself! I love both these settings! (This Simon G and the previous one I posted but of course the Simon G is pricer) I did your suggestion and there is a local j rignt down the street from my work! Woo hoo!! I'm going to go check it out on lunch tomorrow.

I tried to navigate the site to find the ring and I couldn't! It's kinda tricky. I'll try again!

Thanks again for your help Spark. Hey, maybe we can be Simon G sisters!

Ellen - Thank you! I loved it in the store! Of course having that honker 2 carat in the setting made me love it even more!

Right down the street!! How''s that for perfection? That is great ... you know what this means, of course? Another update. I''ll be waiting to hear about it tomorrow.

You probably won''t be able to find the ring online at his website ... It is kinda tricky. I don''t know what''s up with that, however, you should be able to see a pic of the ring box I was talking about.

Simon G sisters ... I''m in ... your turn!
25.gif

I don''t see the pretty box!
15.gif
Ok, I will keep you posted on my find tomorrow!
36.gif

It''s in the intro, I think ...
Here is a link to the website http://www.simongjewelry.com/indexi3.html Let it load and just wait. You will see it.

It looks kind of like a wooden box.

I have been trying to track down that style number for you and can''t find it anywhere. I will keep trying and post if I find it.

Have fun tomorrow!

Ahh I see it now! Pretty! Thank you. I cannot find the sytle number either. Robbins bros just gave me the sku number.
Thanks for looking. I''ll post again tomorrow and see what I find at this Simon G jeweler!

Hey Angel ... Look what I found ... Click Here
It''s not Simon G but it''s similar ... Just provided it so you could check with Pearlman''s re: pricing.

Ohh Spark thanks! I have spoken to Bill before (he was kind enough to send me the Michael B that I love) so I will contact him.

It is another crappy cold wintery day in Chicago (shocking I know) but I still plan on trecking out to see if that jeweler down the street carries the Simon G. I''ll keep you posted!!

Ok Spark - I''m back with some updates!

Firenze wrote me back and said the setting would be $3470! (Much higher than the others)
Went to the local J down the street...VERY NICE lady.(I told her my whole Robbins Bros story and she said sadly, she''s heard horrible experiences from them one too many times!
38.gif

They did not have my setting in store, she checked the Simon G cataglog/book and it wasn''t in there either!
She asked if I had a model/style number, I said no. She asked if I had a picture and I said..why yes I do!
3.gif
She faxed it over to Simon G and they called back with the price info. She said it would be roughly $2500 (I told her Robbins Bros was right around the same price and she said she would do a 15% discount which is great) She said if I wanted it we would have to pay for it and she would bring it in. So at least if I really want it I have found a nice jeweler which is GREAT news. Not sure yet on their stones yet though.
I also set up an appointment to look at some stones on Saturday. Told her my budget and she said she would pull round and princess. She said they would probably be G - H range. (I like you always wanted in higher range) But, I''ll still learning and comparison shopping so it won''t hurt I guess! So the drama continues...
20.gif

Now, this Simon G is pricer than the first I saw at the other jeweler. Which do you like better? Tell me your honest opnion! I THINK I''m partial to the Simon G but more opinions are alwasy good!
(Ok, before you answer..pretend for a minute that you aren''t a future Simon G owner!)
31.gif
Heee heee!!

BTW - When are the gold prices going to go down!!!??

Okey dokey! ... Let me give this a whirl!

First off -- Forget Firenze! Too high. What I would suggest is likely your best bet is to obtain that style# b/c that''s the money! You can take that style number to anywhere else that deals in Simon G and find out how much THEY are going to charge you for the setting in comparison to this place, however, gotta say, I love the 15% discount (this place sounds really decent). You would be surprised with the differences. I was quoted everywhere from $4,400 to $2,500 for mine ... guess who I went with?
2.gif
I bet if you inquire, they may be able to call in a "stock" example of this setting so you can see it in person without having to pay for it b/c it has not been custom made for you. I KNOW that they can do this as this is what they did for me with my setting and I really appreciated that b/c I got to see what it "really" looked like and determine whether or not it was for me. I think this is crucial b/c a setting could be so different in a pic than it is in real life. Just a suggestion.

I''m so glad that the SA was nice to you and that you enjoyed your visit. I hope that they will be able to pull in some nice diamonds for you to play with ... oops, assess.
18.gif
This should be really helpful to you. It most certainly will not hurt!! G - H stones should be just fine! Maybe she can even get you an F SI2 and if it''s really eyeclean, that might be the one!
31.gif

How fun!! I can''t wait until Saturday now to see how it goes and what you think. Are they getting AGS and GIA certed stones for you?

I am torn! Honestly, I don''t know which one I like better. Aside from my Simon G bias, I would have to say, in all honesty that I prefer the diamond bridge thing under the basket with the Simon G one, however, I like the scalloped basket on the other one. If I was in a pinch and forced to choose, I would go with the Simon G b/c I really like the diamond bridge piece on the top of the shank ... Do you know what I am talking about?

Anyways ... doesn''t really matter what I think? Which one speaks to YOU more? Which one are you more drawn to? Tell me what you like/don''t like about each of them ...

Gold prices are going up ... as far as I understand it.
38.gif
A big BOO for that!

I hope this helps. Please let me know if I can help you any further.

Ask for a stock sample? Ok, I will give that a try. I totally agree, what if they bring it in and god forbid it''s not the same one..then I''m stuck. Thanks, I''ll ask on that! I think she''s bringing in both GIA and AGS. We''ll see how it goes. I''m feeling so pesimistic since Robbins left such a bad taste in my mouth. The SA was so funny, she''s like I will not bring out any K YELLOW stones. I was like. great thank you. She did show me a J that she said was too yellow and I agree so I think she knows more what I''m looking for. I''ll be sure to keep you posted!

Ok, If I have to be honest I think I''m leaning towards the Simon G more. BF says he likes the other one but I think he''s just saying that cuz it''s cheaper!
27.gif
To be honest, both are BEAUTIFUL and I would be happy with either! But maybe more happy with the Simon G?
11.gif
9.gif

I would like the non-simon more if it had some pave on the front and back. (3 sided like the Simon G) I just like that extra "bling".

I also contacted this other guy we met. (BF''s best friend went through him) to see if he could get the Simon G and for how much. Ideally, the cheaper the better so that more could go towards the center stone! I wish I just liked plain bands but that''s just not me!
3.gif

A big BOO out to gold prices, I agree!
14.gif

Thanks again Spark. Tune in on the weekend!
31.gif

Hey - Have you picked out your w-band yet? If so, details please!!
36.gif

Excellent! Sounds like you are on the right path. This time is going to be MUCH better for you!
2.gif
than Robbins Bros.
Before you go, why don''t you make a spreadsheet or at least make note of the angles & %''s that you are looking for so that you can throw that info into the mix when you are assessing the stones for color and clarity. This way you will be able to translate some of the theory by experiencing it first hand ... I found it helped anyways.

If you are interested, you can give my jeweler a call and see what kind of pricing they can do on that Simon G setting. They came in really good for me so I am always giving them shout outs b/c good or fair pricing and quality was "huge" for me when we were shopping. ... this way, if it is a little cheaper, you can tell your current jeweler and see if they will give you a further discount or price match or .. if the difference is significant, you can maybe purchase from them online and that way, since you are out of state, you won''t have to pay the tax, which means more savings!
22.gif
All in all, this makes the bf happy!

Haven''t picked out my wband yet and the bf is struggling with this for himself as well. I just know that this is going to be another ordeal ... I can''t wait to start though. I guess he has to propose before we can start doing that though, huh?
20.gif

Staying tuned ...

Whoa Whoa Whoa..you don''t pay sales tax for out of state? Are you sure? When I buy stuff online I''m always paying tax! Thanks, I will contact your jeweler. Firenze just wrote me back saying if I have written quotes of cheaper prices and send them in, they might be able to match....
One step ahead of you, I printed out all the PS charts, tables, etc to make sure that the table and depths are good. I just hope I do a good job...

I guess you''re right, engaged before the wedding band is usally a good start.
3.gif

Thanks again Spark!

Thanks again Spark!
You are more than welcome!

You made me laugh ... Yep! 100% sure. I didn''t have to pay sales tax since I am out of state. I just pulled this from their website under the policy and guarantee info section .. "xxx does not charge any sales tax on purchases which are shipped outside of Washington state" Yay!!
36.gif
I dealt with Mary and given your sense of humor or what I have gotten from you, she might be well suited to you as well. Really, I can''t recommend them enough.

Ooohh... Firenze is trying to compete, huh? Looks like you are getting them all into a tizzy! Given all of this competition, you are bound to get a price that is better suited to your budget.

You are armed and ready!! ... This coming Saturday is going to be a much better experience for you than this past Saturday. Go get''em!

I still am floored by this no sales tax stuff..that saves TONS of money! Ok, I''m going to rethink my strategy here. I went onto your jewelers site and they didn''t show Simon G but I still will contact them.
I hope Saturday is better, I''m getting to the point where Ill take the 2 carat CZ! Hee hee!
31.gif

Thanks again Spark..as always..I will keep you posted on the D-R-A-M-A!
20.gif

Yay! Who says drama can''t be fun ... or at least exciting?
25.gif

Nope ... you won''t see him posted there in their list of designers, however, I''m proof, they are able to order them in!

Savings sales tax is fantastic! Same thing happened when I ordered through Whiteflash ... out of state so NO sales tax! Yay!

I really hope that that local jeweler of yours can get that sample ring in for you so you can better assess if you really like it or not.

Too funny about the CZ ... One SA we were dealing with a long time ago told us that a client of hers came in and had questions about her stone. It was huge... I forget the carat weight but her husband never told her it was a CZ! She was devastated. Poor thing. A CZ to start may or may not be okay depending on the people involved, however, not disclosing that the stone is a CZ is really, really wrong! Horrible, huh?

That''s horrible! Poor lady, she''s walking around this huge honker and she''s thinks a diamond. Poor thing!
I just ordered something from Whiteflash and you are right, I didn''t pay sales tax! God I am slow lately!
38.gif

Now, what if you order a diamond from out of state? Still no sales tax? No, that has to be a no!

Ordered something from Whiteflash, huh? Fess up ... what did you get?

I didn''t pay sales tax on my setting or diamond from my jeweler ... nada! Nothing! Zip Zippo! When I ordered from Whiteflash, I ordered a diamond for my mom ... out of state so nope ... no sales tax either!

Things are looking up for you, huh?
9.gif

WOW! OK, wow again. That''s HUGE! Sorry I know I keep repeating myself but wow! Ok so much to think about now..such a money saver. I mean tax on a $7K item is a lot! Wow..ok I''m done now. Why didn''t I ask about this before?
23.gif
You are GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!

OK you got me, I got a pendant from Whiteflash. Pics should be arriving from them tomorrow so I''ll be sure to post. (A put a round solitare (.69) into a pave/melee pendant. It was my mom''s center) I''m excited to see it!
36.gif

Me too! I can''t wait to see this pendant.
I''ll let you get away with withholding info this time but next time ...
14.gif

No worries! I had to take advantage of everything I could to save some money and get exactly what I was looking for so I learned a few things along the way and, quite honestly, things I didn''t know, Mary helped me out.

What a gorgeous setting! (I like the extra pave on the Simon G one too, for whatever that''s worth). It is true that anything shipped out of state, the retailer does not charge you sales tax on the item. The exception being, if they have a branch in the state you are in. Example: I''m a resident of WA. Way back when, Gateway computers charged me sales tax because WA had a physical store in it; when I ordered from Dell, no tax because there was no Dell store in WA.

It is a delightful hidden savings sometimes; I just bought a diamond from NY, and no tax... it is a very nice thing!

And because I am full of useless information, here''s some other weird tax quirks: currency is non taxable, like antique coins, because it is still legal tender and thus tax exempt... you could spend an antique buffalo $10 bill for the face value, still- it''s legal currency. So no tax on it. (And you''d be an idiot, since it would be worth $1500 as a collectable, but you get the idea.) Also, in WA a seller has the option to choose whether or not to tax residents of OR, MT, AK, VT, Alberta, Northwest Territories, Guam, and Puerto Rico; if you want to keep a record of their driver''s license # on the receipt, and provide it to the state when you file your quarterly taxes, you can choose to make them tax exempt, because those places don''t charge their residents sales tax. Or if it sounds like a monster pain in the rear, you can tax ''em. (I''ve had the occasional customer get incredibly irate over this quirk of state law, usually a resident of California in line behind a tax exempt Oregonian.)

Kitten - Thanks! That is a lot of info! I think I like the Simon G a little more as well...
3.gif

Hiya! Just wanted to give you a head''s up ...

Mary just got back to me and let me know that they have responded to any online inquiries they have rec''d ...
If you haven''t rec''d a response re: your pricing inquiry for this setting, you should give them a quick call b/c maybe they didn''t get it.

btw -- She loves the setting ... She thought it was gorgeous!
