I''m thinking of surprising the happy hubby with a 3 day/2 night trip to Vegas around the end of January. We don''t need the fanciest of accommodations (although I would like to stay on the strip). Does anyone know of any good cheap packages for a quick trip?

Never been to LV so I don''t know if this is on the strip or what, but this was in my travelzoo email this week:

Tehre are a ton of websites to check out
Travelzoo.com, vegas.com, travelworm.com, orbitz.com

Sometimes it''s best to go through the hotel directly via phone or website to see what packages they have, although they dont usually include air.

If you''re a CostCo member, I''ve heard they have pretty good deals.

Milly is right, Southwest Airlines has the best packages. We use them all the time for our trips to Vegas. www.southwestvacations.com

You can also check Hotwire.com. The only bad thing about them is you don''t know the details until after you purchase. However, I''ve used them many times and gotten great deals. It''s great if you don''t have to leave at a specific time.

I just found Travelzoo.com this year and I love that website!

sidestep.com is good too. We stayed at Paris for my B party (it was the cheapest on the strip minus the gross ones at the end) and it was VERY nice. Also a great location. DH goes all the time but gets free rooms.

I knew you all would know of the good cheap sites! I had been trying to find air and hotel separately and kept comping up with rather expensive results. Once I get the happy hubby''s ski trip schedule for January and February I''ll put something together. Right now I''m thinking the last full week of January--does anyone know of any major sporting events or other things that would make that timing bad/expensive?

I think there is ALWAYS something major going on there anymore! Typically the weekends are more expensive than weekdays. You just need to play around with your dates to see what gives you the best deal. How fun!

Well, DeeJay, if your happy hubby is a Bears fan...the Superbowl is the first weekend in February...the playoffs are scheduled for Jan. 14th...so you might have a nice little window in there in which you could both enjoy Vegas, OR you could send hubby to the sportsbook area in your hotel and go shopping on your own, lol!

there is ALWAYS something going on in Vegas, it's super hard to find a time when there is not a huge event or show going on. you can typically tell pretty quickly while looking online when there is a major event or show, because the hotel prices are WAY higher than other times...aka $400 a night vs $150. so if you do have flexibility re; scheduling, keep looking at dates til you find a more reasonable one.

paris, new york new york typically have 'deals' on packages but not sure how nice their rooms are. also we just stayed at the MGM and the rooms were pretty nice, nothing SUPER special but clean and smoke free and they also have some good deals on MGM from time to time. it's apparently the largest hotel on the strip?!

also sometimes depending on when you are going, you can find a deal on the venetian which is awesome...and i have found a deal or two on the bellagio too on expedia from time to time. it really just depends on times and dates and what else is going on.
