We always make a whole video when we return or rental cars so they can't try to claim damage after the fact. We haven't had any issues yet, but you never know!

I almost got fired because of Hertz.
Back in the day , when I was working for M Fabrikant as a loose diamond salesperson we had expense accounts. All the salesman ( before women broke into loose diamond sales) used to take clients out for expensive meals, stay at Marriott and other high line hotels and rent cars.
I loved cars. So I’d plan my trips around which airport had the best car rental places.
Hertz in Boston rented Mercedes back then. Guess I need to fly up and go down to Washington St ( jewelry district in Bean Town)
I was running late for my flight home, rushed the rental car return.
About 10 days later my buddy Rich- sales manager- came rushing into my office… “Did you rent a Mercedes in Boston? Hertz called, and they say that you never returned the car and the bill is up to $1500.
Steve took the call and he’s ready to go run and tell the owner of the company what you did.”
Steve was one of the best sales people there, very aggressive. He’d cut your throat to make a sale.
Anyway, my buddy Rich reminded Steve that he wouldn’t want the owner of the company looking over his own expense account.
Somehow I was able to rectify the situation and not have to pay the fee to Hertz.
Rich saved my ass on this one.
Also, I’m banned from ever renting from Hertz again for the rest of my life… Oh well

A bit off topic but an FYI. There's a cheaper option now for car rentals, called Turo. It's a "car sharing" company where individuals lend you their cars. When my family has used it, it's been about half the cost of the typical car rental companies. We haven't had any problems with it so far but the cars have been older and not as nice.
