Dexter has been on .5% Erythromycin for 10 days with another four to go. He was squinting his right eye and had discharge, brought him to the vet and they did an eye stain to rule out corneal ulcer. I’ve been giving him the ointment in both eyes twice a day and it is a struggle. The real issue is that there doesn’t seem to be much improvement. He seems to be sensitive to light, still squinting but now both eyes and especially after we give him the ointment. He is eating and drinking and using the box normally.
I have a follow-up appointment for Friday but I just don’t know what a reasonable next step might be? I’m concerned that he might have been exposed to something from the cat shelter that DH and our kids volunteer at. I did mention this to the vet but he didn’t seem too concerned. He said he needed to double check if Dexter was texted for feline leukemia (I think that’s what it was anyways).
Anyone with any experience or advice….it would be greatly appreciated!
