I''m interested in a 3 ct stone and just wanted people''s thoughts on the 3 types GOG has in the video:

Is a clean SI2 stone acceptable? I have been aiming for V2''s.

Also, the I color gives me pause. ANyone think that is too warm?

Thanks and much appreciated!

I will watch the video, but for now, a verified eyeclean diamond of SI2, which has been checked by an expert ( as this one has) is perfectly acceptable. I certainly don''t think an I colour is too warm, even in a diamond that large, have you seen any reliably graded I colour of similar size and cut in person? That is the best way to see where your colour tolerances lie, but perhaps the best way of describing it, is that the diamond will be a softer white, not icy white, but still white. You may see a little hint of tint from the side, but that may not be an issue for you.

Thanks - i guess you saw this topic (mentioned video in the other thread). I am interested to get your thoughts.

I have not seen many color grades side by side but i guess that is the best way to tell. I just dont want it to look yellow. I think I need to see a few in person to get a better opinion. My foremost goal was to find a stone that sparkles under different types of light so in reading the posts here it seems like cut is important. I dont own a microscope so i dont think I would notice any clarity difference between VS2 and SI1 and so i''d rather get the better size for the same $ amount.

Thanks again for your help!

But I can reassure you that the diamond won't look yellow, it will still be white. You may see a teeny tint in some lights from the side, but it isn't an issue for most I and even J owners, a big cushion should still be fine - definitely not too warm in my opinion. Good thinking with the clarity, we call it not paying for what the eye can't see, if you are fine with SI clarity, then it is a huge help on the budget! You can have every confidence in Jon and GOG, they won't steer you wrong, I would snap up one of his cushions in a heartbeat!

Cut is so important for beauty, and you can rest assured that Jon has hand picked his cushions for superior performance, you will get a beauty from him!

And you are welcome!

I love the second and third diamonds in that video. The third one reminds me of my Jubilee. An SI2 from GOG is perfectly acceptable. In another post, someone had found an SI2 from James Allen that had a big black carbon spot in the middle, so obviously there is a range of SI2. However, I would not hesitate to buy an SI2 from GOG.

I just received a .63 ct. I color round diamond from GOG and face down, I am having a hard time detecting any color at all. No warmth whatsoever. I love it, and I was hesitant but I am now sold on lower colors, just coz of the price breaks. I''m not sure how the I color translates into 3 carats, but I would bet that those diamonds are awesome. I would definitely buy one if I had $$$$$$$!!!!!
