Anyone ever un-halo their halo?

For my 40th birthday, i was able to pick what I will refer to as my forever diamond. Knowing me, my hubby told me to just pick a ring, and I could change it later when I knew what I wanted. I chose a halo, and though i like the idea, have never been pleased with the craftsmanship of the ring. Also, the center stone is an emerald cut, and I am unsure if I am in love with the RBs all around the EC.

I have been thinking of sticking the diamond in a solitaire ring for a while to get to know the stone as an individual and see what she inspires. My stone is full of fire so who knows, maybe I will end up keeping her this way. She is 2.01 c, so i think she will be fine alone for a while.

I spend hours admiring everyones rings and certainly have some favorites, but not ready to pull the trigger. I have had her for two years (almost) so this is not a knee-jerk reaction.

Thoughts? Thanks in Advance for your input.

I would unset it and wear in a simple solitaire setting, just as you said, "to get to know her". Maybe it isn't the halo itself that you don't like, and maybe, an EC should be in a different setting for you - you'll only know for sure once you take the 2 away from each other and admire them as individuals. (Like twins, so to speak! Get to know each of the twins independently!) EAch are beautiful in their own right, but perhaps together, they just don't work as to what you thought you wanted.

Good luck!

A 2 Carat emerald cut - heck yeh- that would be amazing as a solitaire!!!!!!!!! D0 it!!!

Yep, take it out and let it breathe on it's own for a while. I'm not a big fan of emeralds and RBCs together - maybe you're not either. If you want the presence of a halo, you could consider a deco-inspired step cut halo. Yum! :lickout:

Thank you all for the feedback. I think that pretty much settles it for me! Maybe I will end up keeping her solo!
