I've been reading CNNdotcom for a zillion years.
No more.

Up till yesterday they have never required me to "agree to their terms" before accessing ANY content, not just that reserved for their "subscribers".

I just went to CNN and paid for my viewing by waiting through their commercials before nearly every video, even though many CNN commercials WERE LONGER THAN THE NEWS VIDEO! :angryfire:

But now a popup screen come up insisting I read and agree to their terms.
Nope.
Won't do.

So, since I refuse to be a blob fed by some "news feed" I'll stick to other news sources that do not treat me as a source of info and $$$$.
...
Can anyone else here still read content on CNN without agreeing their "terms", or worse, subscribing?

I like the German news site www.DW.com.
No commercials that my ad blocker can't block.
I think it's funded by the government.

Best of all, the first thing you see when you go there is a pop up with the word REJECT! :dance::dance::dance:

France's Le Monde is another source I'm considering.

I should probably move to Europe.
America's gone. :nono::nono::nono:

CBS has dropped its drawers, lubed up, and bent over for the60.jpegministration, so CBS is now also a no-go. :knockout:

If any one you can still read CNN's content without subscribing or agreeing to their terms, please tell me so, and which browser you're using, and whether you're using a VPN.

I got the pop up window 2 days ago -- even when using a private window on Safari. So I'm done reading CNN online.

That's odd. I didn't get the popup at least not yet. I was annoyed when they made some stories subscriber access only so I just find those stories elsewhere.

I got the pop up thing too. I am not paying to read CNN or anything else. Don’t they make enough with their advertising???? Crazy!

So far, no pop ups when I access the website

@Matata and @Garnetgirl
So you can read CNN's content with no subscription.
Are you certain you have never agreed to their terms and conditions, perhaps long ago?
If I may ask, which browser do you use?

@Karl_K do you understand why some here can get in, but others can't?
Could it be the country each lives in, or a VPN thing?

I get the same pop up, across different devices browsers. A Dell laptop with chrome and an Apple iPad with safari. Not a fan and refuse to "agree".

@kenny Maybe I agreed a long, long time ago. I don’t remember 100%. I’m in Canada and I use Safari to access the site.

Only tick off 10% of your users at once, eventually you will get em all and complaints gain no traction.
Data brokers pay far more than ads these days and its right now this quarter payments vs over time with ads.
Plus they can double dip more adds and sell the data.
For a publicly traded company in the broken stock market that's pure gold.

I got the pop up. I'm so tired of every freaking website selling my information, but at least others let me say "no" before I continue! :x2 I stopped with CNN years ago though when they pushed some conspiracy BS to increase viewership.

I like to scroll through CNN sometimes because they have nice travel and food articles.

Today was the first time CNN specifically asked me to accept terms. Maybe I agreed long ago? I'm finding many more sites are asking to agree to cookies & terms.

But, I haven't seen a difference in performance if I reject the terms. They need us more than we need them.

I'm positive I haven't agreed to any terms and conditions. I access the site using Safari and Chrome. This situation is similar to the one you posted a while ago where I can't access the site (sorry I can't remember what it was) but you can. Another weird thing I've encountered is that sometimes I can't access some sites on Safari but can on Chrome and vice versa and that's a phenomena that has started within the past 16 months.
