I'm slowly beefing up my stone budget and day dreaming. I'm in no big rush, but the hunt is always fun.

Right now I'm dreaming of either a buff top cab or a checker top cab (hope that's the lingo) in a bright pink, magenta, purple, blue, or even green. I just want it to be a strong color, though not too dark. I don't care if it's included, and it will be for an occasional wear ring so stone type isn't really an issue. I'd like either square or cushion cut. And I'm thinking anywhere from 7 to 10 mm.

Anyone want to help? Have any good links for cab stones?

I'd totally help, but I'm no good at cabs. :nono:

I think AJS has cabs - I am not sure about checkerboards, though. Eric from Swala sometimes has good cabs, or probably can cut one. He has good material, and included spinels or tsavorites are easier to find and can be cabbed. Tan's website has nice spinels and tsavorites on the website, can't vouch for the cut.

ck the listings on ebay for spinel or tourmaline-many stones to choose from-rugged & pretty-good for a ring-im into pendents myself but please enjoy-steve...

Do you care if it's opaque or translucent?

Don't really care, but I'd rather translucent I guess.

Barry has lots of other cabs too, but here's a nice blue chalcedony

I'm assuming it isn't dyed like so many other types of cabbed material. You have to be careful where you buy from. It's not a cushion, but it's very nice.

Thanks everyone for the help so far. Apparently square cabs are hard to come by. I don't particularly like the pointy-top kind (sugarloaf?). Ebay is chock full of beautiful round and oval cabs. Barely any squares.

I came across a store on ebay called vipscollection. The seller name is fede.gems. Anyone know anything about them? They have a few things I'm interested in, but I don't want to waste my money even if it's not much.
