Anyone based in Mainland China / Beijing?

Hello PSers,

I’ve searched the forum for ‘Beijing’ and ‘Shanghai’ but not much came up, so I thought I’d put a little feeler out here…

Whilst London has been my home for the past decade and I absolutely love the city, my husband has just accepted a job offer in Beijing. It’s an amazing opportunity for him and because my business is set up so that I can work remotely, we’ll be moving there together next year.

I’m excited but also nervous at the same time, especially because we don’t know many people there. Hence, just wondering if we have any PSers based in Beijing or Mainland China, and if we can have jewellery-infested meet ups / explore the jewellery scene there

I always like a bit of photography to jazz things up, so here are some jade earrings I saw recently. Hopefully I’ll be able to learn much more about jade in China

I know the rings are jade, but what are those long rectangular stones?
Tourmaline? Peridot? Sapphire? Garnet?

These were a wonderful length (9cm iirc) but I wanted some jade in a less traditional shape - am keeping my eye peeled

But 9 cm is 3.5 inch.
Maybe they were 0.9 cm which is about a third an inch.

Ah sorry, I meant the whole earring was 9cm length so they were nearly shoulder-dusters

You're going to have a lovely time! I love Beijing. At the mment I hear its covid testing (PCR every 3 days for everyone) is a bit extreme. But in all other regards its an amazing city to live in. Will you live on the east side? I like Sunlitun area, its great. I also have a soft spot for wudaokou (but it's not east and will be a bit of a hassle to get to if your going to live on the east side due to the ring road system. I also might be baised as I like the university culture.).
