We''re moving this week. We had stupidly put a plastic mat on our kitchen floor under our dog''s water bowl and didn''t clean it very frequently (just mopped over the mat), and water getting under the mat led to the red color of the mat to bleed onto the floor. It''s totally stained.

We''ve tried bleach, and the mr. clean magic eraser. Any other suggestions on what to try?

You could try ammonia. Otherwise I''d just keep at it with the magic eraser.

A paste of baking soda and water got hair dye off my bathroom cabinets, so that might be worth a try.

I have had luck with a product called Zud. It is a rust remover but also removes stains. I used to find it in the grocery store all the time but it''s now more difficult to find. I know Amazon.com sells it.

I mix it with water to make a paste and let it sit on the stain. If it lightens, mix another paste and reapply.

I don''t know of anything that will remove red dye once it''s worked it''s way into a vinyl floor?

I do know that WD-40 is fabulous for removing black marks. Got nothing to lose by trying it, it won''t hurt the floor.
