Lucky, another thing to do is only accept a position in a grad program if you have a full teaching assistanship. First, if you want to get into a cc you'll need teaching experience, but second, this also means that they'll be paying for your tuition and fees plus a small stipend (I think mine was something like $700/mo - so nearly impossible to live on) to help defray your living expenses. I took out a loan for living expenses only for the time I was in grad school.
