I used to be, but after a couple years of going diamond crazy and then being depressed over the money I wasted I got over it. In the end I just like things that sparkle and I've found another board that helps me to get my sparkly fix without all the $$$$. After wearing those for a while I will never go back to diamonds again. Saving up for the dream car instead  - just not quite sure what that is yet :cheeky:
a car will turn into a pile of rust someday, but diamonds will sparkle forever.

A diamond is forever.

99.99% of cars are not.

...unless it's set in too fragile a platinum setting?

I wouldn't say I am not a diamond enthusiast, exactly, but I also don't feel like I fit the PS mold. I don't think hearts & arrows are necessary, I would never again buy a diamond from anything but the secondary market, I can't tell the difference btw a D and a J, I love diamonds with discreet inclusions, oh, and I don't like platinum even a little bit. I do however really like the PS community. People are savvy and interesting, and pretty dang respectful.

NOTHING wrong with that! Everyone spends money differently. I absolutely love cars and I'd spend a good chunk of money on an amazing high-end car too.

Ditto - I'm like you AutumnNov - I love cars. Hm..seriously I've been reading your posts and a lot of our interests are similar - kekeke. :)

I love looking at bling and having bling - but I am not as into diamonds or gems like some PSers here. Nor is my knowledge even close.
Some of the PSers here - seriously blew me away with their knowledge and appreciation. :appl:

No, I like diamonds to the bottom of my soul. My problem is I only own four of them (and they're all tiny! LOL!).I wish I was in a position at this time to buy some of the diamonds I see here; I can drool over GOG's AVC's in low colors with large culets.

So I'm in a different but related position of people who like diamonds but don't have the $$$$$ at this time to buy what I want.

I feel this kind of makes me an outcast but I stick around and muddle through the best I can.

Danny - what size are your diamonds?

Personally, if I am to make a diamond purchase, having the assets/ideal scope images are VERY important to me but that is because I rarely buy diamonds and want to be sure I'm getting the best I can for my $. For many years, I obsessed over diamonds, but now, I am kind of like eh, not that important. Really all that I would like is a collection of diamond earrings (now I wear studs and I'd like a few other pairs to alternate them with). Over the last six months, I sold two of my nicer pieces and used the money on non jewelry related items (furniture, etc.) and now my DH and I are saving for a house or condo and I'd rather have one of those!

I'm not into colored stones...I do have a decent collection that was passed down to me by mom but most need to be reset or are loose. Also, I have a bunch of misc smaller diamonds that I've never bothered to set.

ETA - generally all I wear is my wedding set and my diamond studs. I wear my pendant about 2X per month (solitaire TBTY). I sold my other pendant and for a few weeks wasn't sure if that was a good decision, but since barely remember that I owned it. lol

While I like to educate myself about the history of diamonds, cuts, etc., but I wouldn't wear them unless they are part of an antique or vintage piece I happen to love. I do love and wear other gemstones though and that's why I came to this board, so you will see me on the colored stones subforum a lot ;)) since I am not planning to get married in the next 10 years (I am in a L(ooooooooong)TR).

You've pretty much described me. I did a TON of research when I got my own ring, but I don't have the time or interest level to be deeply knowledgable. I love the random conversation though, so I stay to play.
