I was just wondering if there are any people on PS who don't know much about/are not really interested in/like but don't really care about/ etc. diamonds.

I like diamonds, and was interested in learning about the 4cs when I was shopping for an e-ring, but didn't really care enough about the stone to request ASET images, etc. Similarly, while I like looking at people's rings and learning about them on SMTB, I don't really care enough about diamonds to venture onto Rocky Talky much.

So, I mainly visit PS for Hangout. I really enjoy the conversation. Does anybody else feel this way?

I would put myself in that club. I do like diamonds I guess, and hope to get some beautiful studs some day, but jewelry in general really isn't a priority in my life. Plus, I like old cuts and don't really care about the H&Ds, ASETs, GIA, etc. If I'm looking for a diamond and it looks beautiful to me, I'll buy it.

I come to PS for Hangout and some of the other forums. I never venture into RT and only rarely in SMTR. I came here to learn about my old cut ER, but I stayed for everything else, not the diamond talk.

Pretty much. I found PS as a neurotic LIW. Now that I'm just neurotic I'm spending most of my PS time with the brides and here in Hangout.

I do read RockyTalky a bit, though, mostly out of extreme procrastination. And occasionally to defend my poor misunderstood cushion modified brilliant. It's like the unwanted redheaded stepchild of the diamond world.

hmmm. I do love diamonds but for me if there is something I am dying to have then I get it (if the funds are available though). I am not one to have lots of projects going on in my mind, nothing wrong with it but for some reason I think that would stress me out and does when I do have a project. lol The funny thing is that I had a decent size budget for the holidays but could not think of anything I was dying to have so I put it aside for when there is something I really really want. I do like that I can come here and talk about a variety of topics and it on something other than diamonds like travel, babies, advice, etc and when needed I can ask questions on diamonds to this fabulous community. I do get excited to see SMTB; it is exciting to see what others have bought!! If there happened to be some diamond exhibit going on I would be sure to visit and could appreciate the craftsmanship and details of the piece  but I am not sure I am a true diamond enthusiast?

I like diamonds well enough and if I am buying them I want every spec I can get my hands on, I'm also quite a fan of old cut diamonds but my real love and obsession is for coloured stones.

I hang out in Colored Stones. I also avoid RT like it's the plague--many posters I am not so fond of are floating around there...

I like diamonds but I'm not crazy about them. Colored stones however....

don't care much for diamonds....anyone can have one. but a first rate color stone is much more fun and harder to find. i do admit to liking champagne diamonds.....and some others as well....but, again, they have color. perhaps a diamond in the S-Z color but not much for white ice.

This is me! I do love pretty diamonds, but I am not and will not be in the market for another one for some time. I like to look at them, and I like to have an above average knowledge of them.. but that's the extent of it.

I ventured onto PS for ring hunting, and stayed for LIW and BWW. Now I'm a hangout junkie.

I like diamonds on other people. I also like them as accents to a colored stone, or diamonds with colored stones for accents. If I ever got another diamond without colored stones, it would be a vintage piece.

then i'll go post on CS forum just to piss you off...

I'm in this category. I was here when we were purchasing my stone. I didn't post much on BWW because it gave me anxiety so I was slowly getting off of PS. But then I discovered FHH and really enjoy it there.

Every once in a while I jump on SMTB to look at all the beautiful jewelry.

I think I'm in a similar boat, I first found PS through my LIW days, but stayed for the eye candy as I waited in anticipation. I learned so much reading about other's hunts but my DH just went with "I trust this diamond dealer, the stone looks nice, it's the shape she wanted". It was only 3 years later that I got to see the appraisal sheet, because he felt it was unromantic. I was curious mostly to see how much I retained. It was fun and interesting having a bit more of a background, but I still feel like any diamond purchases in the future would need constant reference to other threads to feel like I knew what I was doing.

PS did teach me a ton about colored stones, and I don't know if I would have ever purchased a loose spinel, or regularly stalk gem cutter pages if it wasn't for the talks going on in colored stones.

I love the beauty of diamonds but don't really consider myself an enthusiast, as in always having a project in the works, or planning future diamond purchases, or analyzing stones. But I do love the sparkle of diamonds and really enjoy wearing the few pieces I have. And I really enjoy looking at everyone's beautiful pieces, both diamonds and colored stones. And I feel more knowledgeable about diamonds, and jewelry in general from spending time on PS.

I like hanging out on PS, it's like being at a giant cocktail party that never ends.

Really like, but don't love! Enjoy looking at diamonds and learning, but have never been a connisseur! (sp? ):appl:

I have seen a few 10+ carat diamonds that were out of this world, but in a general way, I am not a fan of diamonds in comparison to alexandrites, rubies, sapphires, emeralds, jadeite.

Maybe I shouldn't have said 'diamond enthusiasts'. I was kind of thinking more along the lines of PSers with not much interest in jewellery - as in people who might like jewellery but are not really interested in craftsmanship, etc.

I think I'm somewhere in between. I love learning about diamonds (and colored stones) but I most likely will never have several projects in mind or in the works. It's just not in our budget. Also, if I'm honest, I could see myself choosing a vacation or something else to spend big money on (something both my husband and I could enjoy). That's just me though. I have fun dreaming and looking at pieces that everyone has bought here though, and I've definitely learned a lot on PS. I don't tend to wear a lot of jewelry either at one time, so that might have something to do with it, I'm not sure.

I'm obsessed with colored stones, though can't afford to buy tons of them. Anyway I prefer to spend more on one superior gem than the same amount on smaller or not-as-top-quality ones.

Like colored diamonds but have no itch to own one. White diamonds, meh. Really not my thing.

I used to be, but after a couple years of going diamond crazy and then being depressed over the money I wasted I got over it. In the end I just like things that sparkle and I've found another board that helps me to get my sparkly fix without all the $$$$. After wearing those for a while I will never go back to diamonds again. Saving up for the dream car instead  - just not quite sure what that is yet :cheeky:

Add me to the list! I really love diamonds but I really don't know much about them. I just really enjoy oogling at everyone's jewelry!!

Me! I found PS while searching for Engagement forums back in 07 - and found Ladies in Waiting. That's the reason I decided to join, not because of anything jewellery/diamond-related. I like jewellery as much as the next person, in as much as I l ike wearing them and looking at pretty pics, but I'm definitely not someone who spends a lot of time researching or thinking about or planning jewellery purchases. I know about the 4 Cs (which I learnt here) and that's about it. My priority is the forums, I guess. I like that most people on PS seem to be mature and educated and that we can have mature discussions about a whole lot of different topics - diamond-related or not. The forums have really met by needs as I go through different stages too. I started off in LIW, then to BWW, and now hangout mostly in FAH/DH.

This is me. I really enjoy looking at diamonds and I like knowing a bit about them and the 4C's etc but I wouldn't be absolutely crazy about knowing all there is to know. Maybe when I can afford more of them, I'll be more interested. I found PS looking for pictures of the Lucida ring and I stayed when I found LIW.

Yup, add me to the list also. I enjoy ALL beautiful things, neither me nor my wife are jewelry fans. You can always admire beauty or art without being super into that alone. :twirl:

No, I like diamonds to the bottom of my soul. My problem is I only own four of them (and they're all tiny! LOL!).

I wish I was in a position at this time to buy some of the diamonds I see here; I can drool over GOG's AVC's in low colors with large culets.

So I'm in a different but related position of people who like diamonds but don't have the $$$$$ at this time to buy what I want.

I feel this kind of makes me an outcast but I stick around and muddle through the best I can.

Been there, done that. Brand new Audi A6. quattro, leather, stereo upgrade. 10 years and 140,000 miles the transmission disintegrated into dust basically and the $40,000 car (which is over $50,000 today) was worth nothing. I loved the car and I loved driving it. But if I could replace my memories for the cash in my hand, I would in a heartbeat. I also spent a lot of money on watches. I also spent some money on stereos. I don't spend a lot of money on jewelry and I obsessively make sure that anything I buy is something I will like and wear forever. I had to have my dream car and if you have to have yours I wish you all the best with this caveat the old saw about be careful what you wish for can come back to haunt you. Sorry for being o/t.

a car will turn into a pile of rust someday, but diamonds will sparkle forever.

I definitely belong on this list. I joined ps because of bww while planning my wedding, after dh had already purchased my ring that we were both pretty clueless about. I stuck around due to hangout and the family, home and health section.

I've since learned more through some of the ps resources (enough to wish I had found ps before purchasing my ering, that's for sure!), and I enjoy looking at pictures of everyone's beautiful stones. But the only other diamonds I currently own are the diamond earrings that were my wedding gift from my mom and made from her ering and my grandma's ering stones. I would like to add to my collection someday, but right now buying diamonds is not in our budget or on my priority list.

I actually landed here AFTER I was already presented with a ring, lol. So I guess I never got too into the diamond aspect since I never actually had to diamond shop, not am I planning on diamond shopping too fervently in the near future.

I was originally drawn here by my search for a padparadscha for my wedding. And so Colored Stones is my home here! I'm a big fan of color, yum. But I also like dropping into the Hangout, SMTB, Family threads too.
