So, I''m a terrible procrastinator and I am beginning to think it is going to pertain to the wedding as well. We are having a 17 month engagement, so it seems like plenty of time, but the first 6 months have gone by and we haven''t done all that much.

We booked the venue. We have a first draft of our save the date cards. We have a rough guest list.

That''s about it.

I know we still have a lot of time (11 months), but I feel like there are a lot of decisions to make and I also feel like I need to travel to our location to meet with a lot of the vendors I want to decide on. I also want FI to be involved in the decision making process, but getting him to come back to my hometown is easier said than done. I think this is kind of adding to my procrastination.

Anyone else a chronic procrastinator and worried that you will procrastinate for your wedding plans as well?

Absolutely! We have a little less than 17 months to go, and I've done...a big fat nothing. Well, if you count checking out a couple venues we won't be using, sending a few emails, and surfing the net a lot, I guess I've done something, but it hasn't been productive. While I was in the midst of final exams, all I wanted to do was wedding stuff...and miraculously, once finals were over, the itch disappeared...

Part of it is that there are a few things I really would like for the wedding that are just not going to happen for practical reasons (such as holding it in my hometown), and the more I think about our options here, the less happy I am with them and the less I want to start planning.

ETA: I guess we do have a rough guest list and a StD draft, as well, so we've been very slightly productive. But still, we can't finish the StD until we've booked a venue!

LOL! That''s totally me.

lol, my wedding is 2 weeks away and i feel like im still procrastinating!

I had an 18 month engagement and other than booking the venue immediately and telling the photographer I''d like to book him, I did nothing but read wedding **** and think about ideas until December.

Wedding is in 8 weeks and I''ve done 95% of it all - pretty much stress free, so don''t worry too much. The only really important thing to do is book any vendors you definitely want as early as possible. The fabric for my dress only arrived on Saturday!

Regarding your FI, I would personally do it yourself. They''re useless on the whole and just cause more stress, especially if it''s not their ''thing'' or they are procrastinators as well. Everytime mine has got involved at all it''s meant changing a load of stuff - I should know better than to ask his opinion!

I think there is a lil procrastinator in all of us.

My wedding is 5 months away now and I still have not ordered my invites....

This week! Definitely.

eep...4 months and 15 days....

Yes, I will order them this week!

LOL, I am guilty of procrastinating with everything! It might help to make a schedule or have a calendar or planner with things to do week by week but honestly if you are a real procrasinator I think all of those things just take up space. It will all get done. :) Somehow

My wedding is in 12 days and I have no place cards, table numbers, no wedding band for my FI, no favors, no dress for the rehersal dinner, nothing "borrowed or blue," no ceremony programs, my wedding dress is not done, I need cermoney music, haven''t met or talked to the DJ (going to trust the FI on this one although the DJ faxed us something with the wrong time and location last week), I''m still trying to lose a few pounds...

Its also the last week of school so I have procrastinating on turning in lesson plans, grade book, report cards, text books, media materials...

Oh and it''s my planning and I am on the computer, not doing wedding stuff and not doing school stuff.

This is sooooo true!! At first I contemplated asking for advice, instead of just saying "anyone one else in the same boat?" but then I realized, no matter what the advice is, I''ll still procrastinate! I was always the kid in school everyone hated who didn''t start their paper until the night before and still got an A...this has translated into amazing procrastination skills in general. I''ve also noticed I work better under pressure and when I have a million things to do than I do when I only have a few small things to get done and plenty of time to do them.

I''m really against not involving FI, for a few reasons. One of which is that the wedding is already going to be in my hometown. I don''t want him to feel like this is my wedding that he''s just invited too. Also, he''s really picky about stuff that I''m not picky at all about. He''s got a much more artistic eye and I know he''ll have an opinion on our photographer. On the other hand, every set of wedding photos I see look amazing and I can''t tell the difference. I''ll probably take the lead on the DJ though, FI has an...odd? taste in music that I don''t think the rest of our reception would want to boogie down to! Oh,and the main thing is the tasting. I definitely want him to be involved in that. I haven''t met a lot of his extended family as they have always lived states away from us and they aren''t the "get the whole family together" type, so I have no idea what kinds of things they would like. He''s also pretty picky when it comes to food and I don''t want him to not be able to eat anything at the wedding!

I''m glad to hear that there are plenty of other people that are procrastinators too! Because I''m so used to this, I''m sure in the end it will all get done...I won''t be walking down the aisle in jeans and a t-shirt lol

mjso, i could have written your entire post myself--well, except for the picky eater FI part because mine will eat anything, with the exception of pickles! but yeah, the entire rest of that post--odd musical selections, picky about the things you''re not, night before research papers and still getting an A, everything, was my FI and me to a t!!!

i have until october 11th, and so far, i haven''t gotten my dress altered, the groom and groomsmen still have NO clue what they''ll be wearing, i''m still in the sample stage with my invite designer, no finalized menu, not a clue on how we''re doing the bar or what we''re serving at it, decor is up in the air because my florist and i need to schedule a meeting to figure that out, we know what song we''re dancing to but other than that we haven''t even decided if we''re going to do the dances with parents, we have no cakes, i have no ring for the groom, no gifts for attendants, no favors, and the guest list is still a little fuzzy. how am i doin''???

Did my conscious post this thread?

The invites need to go out THIS WEEK and we have to finish addressing about 30 of them and stuff all 200 of them.

I am so unorganized. Wedding planning book? Nah, don''t need it right? I am so bad.

Will have had about a 15 month engagement. Five months to go and we still need:

A DJ for the reception
Groomsmen!
Officiant
Hotel (for us and for guests)
Transportation
Invites/programs
Groom''s apparel
Pick cake designs for baker
Get ribbon/hankies made & monogrammed
Register
Finalized guest list

That''s just off the top of my head too.. I really didn''t want to like this, but it''s what it has come to.
