The worst thing about my job is that I have to wear a suit

If I wear a skirt suit, I have to wear pantyhose

I abhor pantyhose, but since it is a fact of my life, I'd like to find some that don't tear after a single wear, stretch out into unrecognizable shapes, or generally make me constently conscous of their existence on my body...

Does anyone have a kind that they love? or even like?

Thank you plenty.

Maybe you should try Baryshnikov dance tights. They''re not sheer like panty hose - but they make your legs look great and they would definitely last a long time.

They change from time to time - but I Like

Talbot''s - for support
DKNY - for sheer

Although I don''t wear pantyhose that often, when I do, I have found Victoria''s Secret the ones I like the best.

thanks for the recommendations. i think that i prefer a more sheer hose, so i''d probably not like the dancing tights, but i''ll look into the others.

lovelylulu,
I like the sheer hose by Calvin Kelin. They hold up pretty well. I don''t think anyone likes to wear panthose, but these are comfortable.

I hate pantyhose too...I used to have to wear a skirt, hose and heels every day to work at an old job. I think I spent 1/4 of my check just on hosiery.

I''ve tried almost every brand, but I do like DKNY, and Victoria''s Secret. Also, if you use the special hosiery wash (I have Von Maur''s delicate fabric wash) they hold up much longer and are softer. I don''t know about all department stores, but some offer a "punch club" card where you can buy 12 and get a free pair. Oh, and try to get reinforced toes...one of my issues with hosiery is that the toes seem to wear out quickly when you''re walking around all day long.

Hanes makes pretty good quality hosiery as well...reasonably priced, too. I have a few packages of those hanging around in my lingerie drawers for emergencies. I don''t remember them being overly comfortable, but I don''t have any horrific memories, so... they must not have been too bad. If you like control top, Spanx makes some more comfortable waists with smoother seams that are supposed to be roll-proof, but they are usually pricier ($18-25?).

Something I discovered during my first pregnancy, and still wear sometimes is thigh highs instead of pantyhose. Kind of depends on how you''re built whether they''ll be comfortable, but I liked that nothing was digging around my waist and they don''t have to come up and down to go the the bathroom. It''s a matter of body type and personal preference whether elastic around the thighs is better than pantyhose, though.

i like the victorias secret ones.. I only have bought one or two pairs.. they are body by victoria (But NOT the body bare).. I get a control top..They go on nice, don''t itch and don''t run..

Hi lovelylulu,

I hate pantyhose but when it becomes necessary I do like the "Sheer Comfort" ones from L''eggs (I think). They are sturdy and well ... comfortable. I''ll point out that they are on the heavier side vs. supersheer. I also used to like the Saks house brand ones but havn''t bought those in ages...

VS has the best, IMO, for comfort and quality. But they''re expensive--like 18 dollars a pair. But they last a while and hold up even in the washing machine. For super-sheer, but less durable, DKNY is really good. I hate panyhose. I can''t believe your employer makes you wear them. It''s so 20th century.

Lovelylulu says her employer mandates suits. Then she said if she wears skirted suits, she'll need pantyhose. I got the impression that the employer doesn't necessarily say you must wear pantyhose, but that everyone knows if you wear a suited skirt with closed toe shoes, you're going to need pantyhose.

Is this not true? Do people wear skirts and pumps with no hose? If you do, don't you get blisters? What about milky white legs -- do you just show them off or do you fake-tan them?

I'm really curious -- I hate pantyhose too! But my feet would kill if I tried to wear pumps without them. (and my legs are glowing white by January)

I like Hanes Silk Reflections-very sheer. I''d wear skirts and pumps without hose in the summer, but in the fall and winter I need hose or tights. White legs=not attractive.
