RIght, I've narrowed down my wish list. I want an oval, D-H colour, IF-SI1 clarity, excellent cut, with no to slight fluorescence (though I can move a bit on that). I want the biggest (mm length x width) stone I can get for under $3000.

I've narrowed it down to two stones:

Shape: Oval
Carat weight: 0.70
Cut: Ideal
Color: F
Clarity: VS2
Certificate: GIA
Depth: 63.4%
Table: 55.0%
Polish: Very Good
Symmetry: Good
Girdle:
Culet:
Fluorescence:
Measurements: 6.70*4.76*3.02
Ratio: 1.41

Carat Weight : .77
Cut : Excellent
Color : E
Clarity : SI1
Lab Name : GIA
Depth : 62.90
Table : 57.00
Polish : Excellent
Symmetry : VG
Girdle : Thick to very thick
Culet : none
Fluorescence : none
Ratio : 1.40
Measurements : 7.22 x 5.17 x 3.30

These are virtually identical in price, so should I go for the smaller VS2 stone or the larger SI1 stone? Or neither?

This is such a minefield! I feel like I could search for stones for the rest of my life and never find the perfect one!

I'm not an expert, but I do know that you can't judge an oval (or any fancy shape) from numbers alone. Do you have photos? Does one look more appealing to your eye than the other?

I'd prefer the shape/cut of the .91

Ask JA to send you the ASET images as well as a comparison of the three from their gemologist. They'll do this once.

Not an expert but I love ovals and did a lot of research trying to find the one.. I recommend www.goodoldgold.com They brought in a few stones and made videos for me.. My oval is TDF, and am thrilled. But yes no numbers to go by... You really have to see them, and of course I didn't want to see a bow tie...

HTH, good luck in your search.

I think the longer ovals look the biggest, but to me the chubby ones look the most appealing. I think you are getting alot of spread for your money with an oval in any case, so maybe go by what your eye prefers!
