was wondering if anyone else enjoys reading Sophie Kinsella as much as I do?

you will most likely know her as the author of the Shopaholic series, but my favorite is REMEMBER ME? that is absolutely the most hilarious book I have ever read. right now I''m in the middle of CAN YOU KEEP A SECRET? which is entertaining. TWENTIES GIRL was also cute.

I was really not at all amused that the movie CONFESSIONS OF SHOPAHOLIC takes place in Manhattan. obviously they will never be able to make the sequel of when she actually moves from London to Manhattan. and I''m wondering if they changed the title of the second book SHOPAHOLIC ABROAD to SHOPAHOLIC TAKES MANHATTAN for the US readers?

I love Sophie Kinsella! Actually, her real name is Madeleine Wickham, and she publishes under this name as well. I don''t understand why she uses a pseudonym but she does. I''ve never read any of the books under her real name. Anyway, one of my favorites was "The Undomestic Goddess." It was a really funny book. Light and fluffy, but entertaining. I liked the Shopoholic movie but I didn''t understand why they changed the setting. I hope it wasn''t to please American audiences. It annoys me when books and/or movies make things "easier" for us by changing settings, etc., almost as if we need to have things familiar to us. I don''t know if I''m wording that right, but maybe you know what I mean.

Yep! I''ve read the Shopaholic books (not the baby one though). I was disappointed that they got an English actress to play an American. Couldn''t they just have her be English...like the book?

If I hadn''t read the books though, the movie was cute enough.

thanks, ladies! I didn't know she wrote under a pseudonym.

what are her books like that she writes under her name Madeleine Wickham? are they similar?

I don't know THE UNDOMESTIC GODDESS. will definitely buy that one next time.

have you run across any other authors who write in a similar way?

Bleed Burnt Orange - what is an unofficial, official wedding date?

I''ve flipped through The Gate Crasher, which is the title of one of Wickham''s books, but I haven''t read it yet. It seems pretty similar to her other books under "Kinsella." I really don''t get why she has a pseudonym -- it would be one thing if she wanted to write some books using one style and other books with another style. All of her books seem so alike though, in that they fall under the "chick lit" category.

Here''s a website I found. It includes a review of the above mentioned book, and there are other authors you might want to check out.

This has a list of books by Wickham/Kinsella: http://bestsellers.about.com/od/bookfilmlistsbyauthor/tp/sophie_kinsella_books.htm

Other authors who write chick lit are:

Meg Cabot (I''ve heard she''s really good but I haven''t read her books yet)
Emily Giffin (Something Borrowed, Something Blue, Baby Proof, Love the One You''re With)
Jane Green
Laura Weisberger (The Devil Wears Prada, etc.)
Jennifer Weiner (Little Earthquakes, etc.)
Marian Keyes

There are plenty of others but these seem to be popular ones.

Well...We haven't really announced to the world that we want to get married on that date. It may very well change, due to particular circumstances (FI working out of the country on an assignment). But...I'm still planning for it to be on that date, so... it's official in my mind, but not official to the people attending yet.

That probably still doesn't make sense.

I really like her books, by both her names. Funny chick lit is the best EVER. I especially liked Remember me? The Wedding Girl was cute too.

Another great author is Cecelia Ahern. Thanks for the Memories was a great, quick read.

I love her!! I just started reading her books last week and I''m hooked! I just finished Remember Me. The Undomestic Goddess was my favorite.

I am reading SHOPAHOLIC & SISTER, and I''m getting really annoyed with Becky. she''s so stupid and I just want to slap her silly and say, "Get a life!" I mean she makes such silly decisions that they''re not even funny anymore. she''s just a sad individual.

I totally agree with you on that one. I was so annoyed with her that I actually didn''t even want to finish the book. But I did anyways.

totally hear you. getting aggravated... but still continuing to read!

now I''m starting to wonder what SHOPAHOLIC & BABY is going to be like...

It was funny. Not as annoying.

I just finished reading remember me

for the second time...

I love her books, they are a nice escape from reality

I thought Shopaholic and Sister was my least fave of the Shopaholic series and will now check out the books under her real name. Thanks for the heads up.

I thought "Cocktails for Three," written under Wickham, was her best book.

I loved the first two Shopaholic books, but then they got more and more unrealistic ... I loved Can You Keep a Secret

There''s a new Marian Keyes (my other favorite) out Thursday -- can''t wait!

DH is now reading to me out loud from SHOPAHOLIC & SISTER. having it read with a man''s voice makes it all the more amusing and easier to get through.

I really do like her books but I cannot tolerate the Shopaholic series. Maybe they got better but the main character just annoyed me.

Zoe, I LOVE Meg Cabot. You can borrow some of her books if you want.

I"m reading Remember Me right now it is so much fun! Her books are so easy to read. I love them!

I was actually sad when Remember Me was over. I wanted to keep reading and reading!

Hm, actually she is Scottish but she lived in Australia her whole life- hence her accent really wouldn''t have been English! (thank you imdb ha)

I LOVE Sophie Kinsella/ Madeleine Wickham! My library only has a few Madeleine Wickham books so I haven''t read too many.
I also LOVED the undomestic goddess. My other favorite book writers are:

Jane Green (LOVE Jemima J!)
Katie Fforde
Jodi Picoult
Jennifer Weiner
Marian Keyes is probably my FAVORITE author of all time. I think she has a new book coming out/is out.

Emily Giffin''s books just rub me the wrong way. I can''t stand cheating so maybe that''s why.

I also loved Cocktails for Three and I just read Twenties Girl last week- it was a hoot.

I really liked Twenties Girl also! Tacori -- I just saw your post. I''d love to borrow some of Meg Cabot''s books! Thanks! I''ll e-mail you...

I enjoy her books too - a nice, funny, relaxing bit of light reading - it''s the perfect recipe somedays :)

I also really love Marian Keyes and Jodi Picoult`s books :)
