if you did ,was the diamond as described ? how about return policy ?
thanks PSers .

I have bought a couple of things from them and was very pleased. I believe they have a good return policy...don't remember the # of days. They have a retail jewelry store so I am confident about buying (and returning if necessary) from them.

they're reputable. i would email Ilya and ask him what his best offer is on the ring and if he'd sell the stone separately (if you want that). they typically negotiate a little but they won't drop large %'s or anything. they also have other stones in inventory that are not always listed on ebay. good luck.

I agree with Mara. It never hurts to ask what their bottom price is, although I have found their prices to be pretty fair compared to some other options. If you call and negotiate price, then you'll be buying from their store and not through ebay, just so you know. That is what I did and I at least saved the ebay fees. That stone looks really nice! I did see that one!

Thanks Mara & diamondseeker for your help .

You're welcome! Good luck! (I just added a little to my last post.)

I have bought three items from them. My first purchase was a 3/4 ct. OEC in a squarish setting, which I love. Ring had to be resized and they did that quickly and had the ring to me in no time. Excellent buying experience.

Unfortunately, I haven't had the same great experience the other two times. Second purchase was an antique WG wedding band. The photos did not show that one side was worn completely flat, nor did the description mention it. I didn't like the asymmetrical look so I sent it back.

The third item was a vintage WG eternity band that was described as OECs and about 1 ct. total. I wear a weird size (8.25) and finding an OEC eternity band in my size just seemed meant to be. Unfortunately, it wasn't OECs and the total carat weight was about 2/3 ct. I contacted them and Ilya told me that perhaps my jeweler doesn't know what an OEC looks like. The stones in the eternity band were definitely NOT OECs. They did not have a high crown, small table, or culet of any size. I probably should have sent the ring back, but it fit, it's comfortable, and it's pretty, so I kept it. it just wasn't as advertised. My jeweler/appraiser did not think I overpaid for it even though it had been repaired rather ineptly.

libbyla ,
great feedback .

Liz, could they be transitional/early rb's? Sometimes I think they call all rounds before modern round brilliants OEC's, and certainly plenty of those stones don't have high crowns or tiny tables. We are just a little more specific on here! I think it is still a good buying experience when the seller nicely accepts a return! I really don't think they intend to deceive. It's almost impossible for me to judge from pictures and I have to see the items knowing I may return. I was just very lucky with the two items I bought.

I bought one of their top-end mountings on eBay a couple of years ago for a suspiciously low price, LoL. But it turned out to be, to my eyes, as-described. The sidestones were totally eye-clean, probably are VS1 or VS2 and G color as claimed. The mounting is sitting in my safe deposit box so I can't show any pics. It's a vintage style 18k WG similar to eBay 360445113703. But I'd call my deal "unusual." Most of their mountings appear to be a little on the lightweight if not flimsy side. This mounting is worthy of a good diamond, but it's a sz 4.5 and the shank is engraved all-around. The small size plus added difficulty and/or expense to resize are what held the price so low on it, I believe.

DS,

They looked like plain old modern round brilliants to me and to my jeweler. Nothing wrong with that, it's just that I wouldn't have bought it except for the OEC description. I could have sent it back, and thought about it, but the setting is definitely vintage with engraved sides and it's comfortable and my size. It shows wear and tear and repair attempts (apparently with a pair of pliers to squish the channel together, in several places). It's very pretty, though, so I opted to keep it. It has personality .

The stones are about 3 pt. each and in a channel-type setting, although with prongs. Kind of hard to see the faceting in that size diamond, but the tables are very large. Definitely not OEC or OMB.

I actually have had Ilya be really honest about something I'm looking at on his site before. I asked about this vintage stone/ring and he said yanno that's really not going to make you happy... it's not that well cut etc etc. He and I had corresponded before and he knows about PS and PS'ers so I appreciated his honesty.

I wish I'd mentioned I was a PS-er. Perhaps he wouldn't have been so dismissive when I e-mailed about the eternity band not being OECs...

I did not end up purchasing thru the eBay store, but had a good conversation with Ilya. He seemed very open, honest and helpful. See if you can connect with him directly to get answers to your questions

I originally mentioned it because I was inquiring about OEC inventory, and he was giving me the spiel about diamonds and clarity/color, quality blah blah, so I just said I was a member of PS and had been for X years and knew all about the basics. It def made our convos easier as I didn't want him to feel like he needed to spend time explaining things to me OR for me to feel like he was trying to sell me on something.

I have visited their physical store a few times. I found Ilya to be helpful and honest. In fact, he emails me sometimes when something comes in that fits what I am looking for. I go in and take a look to see if I like it. INo pressure - you buy it if you like it. I have also inquired about diamonds and he told me not to bother. They have nothing to hide. I also sat in their office listening to them serve others - no complaints.
