Hey ladies!

So, the more I read, the more I realize how much I don''t know about ediquette. I guess I just haven''t been to enough weddings, and I certainly don''t want to step on anyone''s toes out of ignorance, trying to plan mine.

Some things are intrinsically obvious, but other things I have no clue about (IE: I had to look up what a receiving line was b/c I just didn''t know). I just want to make sure I''ve got my bases covered & am not over-seeing anything huge.

Any good books or articles out there on wedding ediquette that you all would suggest? Thanks!

Along with lala''s post, I got this one out at my local library. It''s interesting to read about what is the ''must'' and ''must-not'' of the wedding world...LOL. (I also wonder what made this woman the "authority" on etiquette?) But at the end of the day, it''s YOUR day and you can do what you''d like (as long as you aren''t intentionally trying to hurt people''s feelings/rub them the wrong way). Also, I think the book must''ve been updated sometime recently because it has a LOT of modern stuff in it, so it''s not out-dated.

Emily Post''s Complete Book of Wedding Etiquette

It depends on what you''re looking for.

Emily Post is the most lenient, so to speak, when it comes to traditional etiquette.
Judith Martin (AKA Miss Manners) is more traditional, and is the better choice if your family is truly "of the manners born."
Leticia Baldridge and Amy Vanderbilt are also fabulous references, they tend to fall somewhere between Ms. Post and Ms. Martin regarding tradition vs. modern allowances.

If you''re looking for some fun reading about etiquette, I love the Etiquette Grrls. You''ll especially enjoy their books if you were raised in a manners-minded family, they''re great.
