Just a couple things....

EGL tends to be softer on colors, I would have an independent varification. I don''t know if you are getting this stone from a store or online, but you should also make sure it is eyeclean.

Welcome Sean,

Firstly, which EGL lab graded this diamond, was it EGL USA, Europe, Antwerp, Israel etc? This diamond has a slightly larger table, but it looks as if it could be a good make of diamond, if that is what you want then it could be a nice diamond, if you wanted as top notch superideal, then keep looking. Also because it is touted as a hearts and arrows diamond, doesn't necessarily mean it is a true example of this cutting style. Also as Lt says, an independant appraisal might be useful should you decide to purchase this diamond. Have you seen this diamond in person and is it eyeclean to your standards?

Like LtLFirecracker said, you need to have the correctness of color and clarity checked, because of the EGL-report. This goes as far as checking whether the inclusion is eye-clean.

Also, you need to check the H&A. According to the HRD-charts of H&A, it is technically impossible to obtain H&A with the proportions mentioned.

Hello again and thanks for the feedback. The lab is EGL-USA. I have seen the diamond under a microscope and also using a hearts and arrows viewer on more than one occassion. The hearts and arrows pattern is the one of the most accurate I have seen in person after comparing it to other h&a diamonds. Some h&a diamonds I have seen contain the patterns but the symentry of the arrow and heart shapes were off.

When shopping for diamonds, I noticed quite a few EGL stones labeled as G or H that looked more yellow than this one. The color also seems accurate as I have compared this diamond side by side with a 1.01 GIA G-SI1. I could not tell the difference between the two as far as color.

The diamond is eye clean although I can see the inclusions under the scope. As far as visual impact, the diamond has quite a bit of "fire" and sparkle to it. I have looked at quite a few diamonds in person and this one definetly stands out. I think this diamond is the one, but I wanted some feedback on the cut specs.

Thanks again,
Sean

Of course the appraisal value is far fetched, but it sounds like you''ve done your homework and some comparison shopping. Nothing wrong with fire and sparkle from a diamond. Have you looked at it in different lighting environnments?
