I''m starting to look around at dresses (since let''s be honest...that''s going to be my favorite part!) but I REALLY don''t want a strapless/sleeveless (short sleeved is fine, just don''t want my upper arms exposed

).

Any suggestions? I''d love to check out some online since I''m trying to resist the in-store until FMIL visits for Thanksgiving...which will be 7 months before our wedding. I think that''s enough time, right?

Thanks!!

hmmmm....David''s offers pretty sleeves, and you can see online what they are - i think there''s cap sleeves and a short sheer sleeve. Other than that, with the higher end lines, i am sure they would do custom for you. happy hunting!

Thanks for the suggestion, I''ll try that! I highly doubt I''ll go with a "higher end" line though to be completely honest I''m trying to keep the costs down so I''d love to get my dress for $500 or less. I think it''s definitely possible to find something wonderful in that price range. I don''t need a fancy designer.

Tammy I feel the same way about the $$$ - David''s has a good selection and the first one i tried on was "the one" and only $550! I was psyched! Only a 12 week order lead time too......

Keep in mind too - you never knwo until you try it on. I dont'' hae the best arms but the strapless gown I''m getting truly looks PERFECT. You may suprise yourself!

Have fun looking!

I did a quick search on modest wedding gowns and this site looks promising!
Good Luck and keep us updated

Thanks for the suggestions! :) I poked around David''s, and I saw I dress that I LOVE the look of here with one of the pretty accent colors, but I just don''t know...maybe I will have to whip my arms into shape for this!

akmiss - I just looked at that website, thank you SO much for linking it! I love a few of their styles, even though I''ve only looked for a minute or two so far.

There were a couple of threads over the past few months about dresses with sleeves and/or non-strapless dresses. Do a search for "sleeves" and you''ll find at least three with many, many replies.

Hope this helps!

Also, don''t discount the option of doing some sort of really awesome bolero or shrug with a strapless dress! That way you have the option of showing your arms if you decide you like them, or adding some serious pizazz to your dress if you don''t!

that''s a very pretty dress you linked from David''s - ditto on the shrug/bolero idea as an option

I really like the dress you linked. Very pretty.

I was not hip on sleeveless, either... but ultimately, there weren''t any dresses in the salons that had ones I could try. I love the dress I picked, and was trying to find a bolero, but getting a lace jacket was going to look funny and satin would be too heavy for our August wedding. So, I will probably get one of these nifty things in organza:

Wrapor Shrug

Not sure I will wear it the whole time, but it looks nice in the testimonials. :)
