Antique Tiffany Ruby & Diamond Moi et Toi

I've been a lurker here for a few years. I love all things sparkly and have enjoyed seeing everyone's beautiful pieces.

DH recently gave me the go-ahead to place a ring on layaway. I am so excited I just had to share. It's an antique Tiffany & Co. moi et toi ring. The larger diamond and the ruby are each approximately .25ct. The smaller diamonds are 3 points each. It's 18kt yellow gold. Inside the shank there is a name engraved (I'm assuming the original giftee's) as well as the year 1896. We just put the deposit down today and it will be on my finger on Christmas day!

It will be a couple months but I'll post hand shots once I receive it.

Question: I''ll need to have the ring appraised so we can put it on our insurance. Can I send it to Tiffany for an appraisal? I don''t know how that works since it was purchased second-hand. Or if they can even authenticate something that''s so old. Should I just use a local appraiser?

The ruby looks a bit pinker in these photos than IRL. It has an awesome glow about it, as if there''s a light inside of it almost. And it''s cut like an OEC.
