Are there are vendors who are known for their antique style cushions? I''m having a really hard time finding a cushion that doesn''t resemble a radiant cut. Is there another cut name for an antique cushion (one with chunky facets and large/broad light return) Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think it would be best for you to contact pricescope vendors directly and have them find some great stones for you. Mark at enagementringsdirect has found some incredible cushions of every style. I''ve also seen goodoldgold.com and whiteflash.com source beautiful larger-faceted style cushions. Tell them you are looking for an antique style or a style with larger facets and you don''t want the "crushed ice" style cushions.

Thanks, I''m waiting for Mark to get back to me (as well as goodoldgold), I guess a lot of vendors are on vacation as this is the time of year. Glad I''ve contacted the vendors you guys recommend. Thanks! :)

Do you want an actual antique stone, or just one that looks antique style? If the former, I''d call Ari and Single Stone. If the latter, I''d follow up with Mark at ERD, some of his cushions are cut in a style that mimics the antique cuts, but they''re not actual antique stones. Depends if that matters to you or not. Good luck!

I''m sure they will get back to you when they are back. I think it is pretty common for places to be on vacation sporatically over the summer.

I basically don''t want a cushion that has a lot of "crushed ice" like a radiant does. So, am I specifically looking for an old stone...no. I''m looking for one that looks antique style, without the antique high price tag. :)

I''ve even gone to some places that sell loose diamonds and the guy pulled out a bunch of radiants and told me, we can just cut the sides and then it will be a cushion. Huh? I didn''t want to tell him, "no, actually, it would STILL be a radiant." I guess some people think a cushion and a radiant are the same cut.

Wow, awesome links, thank you neverendingupgrade!

What do you guys think of this one? Second one down the j/k: http://www.jewelsbyericagrace.com/loose_antique_diamonds

What you basically want is a cushion Brilliant. BostonJeff, Scarlet, Pixley, and myself have what your are describing (as well as others that aren''t coming to the top of my head).
In general Cushion Brilliants have the chunkier look, and cushion modifieds have the radiant crushed ice look. Although, I remember Jon at GOG saying that he had gotten in a chunky modified. It''s all part of the mystery of the cushion.
I can tell you though, that mine and Scarlet''s are newly cut stones but look like the antiques. Mark and Jon both know the cutter. Also take a look on bluenile bc if you can see the GIA cert you be able to tell a lot more about the stone, and I know Mark has access to those.
Hope that helps! Keep us posted on your search!

I think it''s awesome. I''ve been drooling over it for months!

Good to know! I think I''m going to try and go see it in person. I hope they are slightly negotiable on the price, I''m trying to stay in the $10,000 and under range.

Crookedrock- You are completely right. I LOVE all of those gal''s cushions! They are so absolutely gorgeous!

Here''s some more pictures of it here: http://cgi.ebay.com/2-44-ct-Antique-Cushion-Cut-Diamond-J-K-VS1-Loose_W0QQitemZ140232541744QQihZ004QQcategoryZ45399QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l1262

Do you think offering $9500 for it would be an insult?

She doesn''t have pictures of her loose diamonds on her site, but you can certainly call and ask them to find you a great stone.

Just FYI, Fay Cullen has a rather lousy return policy. Also, a lot of the stones they list are a "virtual list" from OldWorldDiamonds.coms stock- just call OWD, they actually *have* the stones in stock, can look at them for you, and have an excellent return policy. Also Fay Cullen charges you for pictures, wheareas OWD doesn't, and most of their stuff already has a picture to begin with- FC doesn't show any pics.

Thanks LittleGrey! Great information to have...

Wow, you guys are awesome. Thank you so much.

I called Grace to ask about the 2.44 and it is off being certified by GIA, she said it faces up white and will mostly likely get an I or a J rating, but will still honor her pre-certified price since I called before it has come back (she said it would be done before Thursday). She''s offered to meet me this weekend with not only this stone, but 3 other cushions, a few old-mine cut and some others. I''m super excited and will let you know how it looks and what I decide. The boyfriend is coming with me, so hopefully he''ll be in love too.

I can''t wait to hear what you decide!

Grace is very sweet and professional. I spoke with her on the phone a few times and emailed back and forth. She has some really nice stones.

I ended up purchasing my cushion from Old World Diamonds because I wanted to spend less than $7K and Erica/Grace didn''t have anything in my range at the time.

I had a solid experience with OWD also. Mike was patient, willing to send pics, and also pulled the stones from their stock and gave me some eyeball recommendations. He quite honestly told me one stone I was calling about was a bit of a doggie. There was never any pressure to buy.

Thanks for the info. It is very helpful to those of us who want to someday buy an antique diamond.
