Hello all,
I''m very new to this website/forum but found it while searching for information about Ritani. My apologies in advance if this is not the correct place to post, please direct me if I''m wrong.

I have a round, .50 carat Old Miner''s Cut/Old European Cut diamond from my great, great grandmother (a family heirloom passed down to me) that my boyfriend and I would like to have as the center stone in my engagement ring. It''s a beautiful diamond that I think would look wonderful in the Ritani endless love halo ring. I''ve fallen in love with this setting and would be heartbroken if I can''t get it to work with my diamond.

Here''s the scoop and dilemma. We went to a local jeweler on Friday and are awaiting word back from the designer if they can put my diamond into this setting. But as I''ve recently read on some forums here, it looks as though Ritani only works with their own diamonds. If this ends up being the case, does anyone have any suggestions as to where I could take this sentimentally priceless diamond to get custom made for a similar setting? It doesn''t have to be an exact copy but something similar, as I like the antique and delicate style of this Ritani ring. I''m just looking for a jeweler that I can trust with this very special diamond. Location is around Richmond/DC area. Don'' know that I trust internet jewelers, I''m just over paranoid with this heirloom, I''d like to have this done in person.

Let me know what you think, all suggestions welcome.

Ritani will work with heirloom stones. Though rare, a chip can happen to anyone.

Great to hear that Ritani will work with me!! I know you mentioned that chips can happen to anyone, and I guess that's a chance I'd have to take if I use this stone. However, should I trust it being sent out to be custom-made by Ritani? I'm assuming they have experience with this sort of thing, more so than a regular jeweler?? Let me know if you have any suggestions or if I should take this stone to someone else.

Haven't heard any bad things about Ritani, you could search the forum to check. And ask Ritani what would happen in the rare chance of chipping.

Thanks so much for your help! I'm definitely going to ask Ritani and I plan on getting it appraised this week, so maybe I'll get insurance for it as well. Although I'm new with that whole thing as well, so I'm not exactly sure what the insurance would cover. I'll have to do some research, thanks so much for your advice!!! I'll have to post a pic once I get this ring made. :)
