Hi! I''ve been lurking around for a while but finally signed up so I can post/ask questions.
My mother recently gave me this beautiful antique diamond ring. Her father gave it to her. He frequents auctions and estate sales and picked it up for next to nothing. He has no use for it so she got it. She''s getting nostalgic (*sigh*) and wants me to have it now and not when she''s dead (gotta love moms!). I LOVE the ring and wear it despite it being too big size-wise for my hand. I must get it sized ASAP.
I don''t know anything about this ring other than a jeweler told them it was pretty old and reasonably valuable (he estimated $3500). He said the value came with the diamond being original to the setting. Said that if the two were apart they''d be essentially worthless.
From my Googling I can assume it''s an Edwardian-style but that''s all I can tell. There is an "S" on the inside of the band but any other markings have been lost b/c it''s been sized several times and the band is uneven on the underside.
Some photos I took next to the window:
