Guys,

I am looking for an "antiqueish" cushion diamond, specifically not a cushion modified brilliant. Approx. 1.8-2 ct, E-G. I want the thick chunky facets, small culet, and spready table. Is this diamond (see attachment) a cushion brilliant? If not, what is it? Would this be hard to find in my specifications? Is there a difference between cushion brilliant and antique cushion? Should I hold out for an antique cushion? Thanks!

I don''t know a whole lot about cushions. If I were you I''d contact Mark Turnowski at www.engagementringsdirect.com He finds the most amazing cushions. Good luck!!

Read the PS interview with Mark Turnowski ( on the home page). My girlfriend is interested in cushions, and I gave her the link. She said it was very informative- Mark explains the major differences between types of cushions. And I agree with Kaleigh- give him a call- he will find you exactly what you are looking for! We bought my stone from him-although not a cushion- he has a great eye and I trust him wholeheartedly!!

Good luck!

From my research, and I am just a consumer like you, the photo you posted is a cushion.

An antique cushion would not have a small culet, the one in the photo has a medium or large culet.

Go ahead and use the PS search feature, you''ll find out alot of info. And as the other posters said you can contact a vendor and have them search for you.

I can help you some... hehehe... First of all, this cut is listed under MORE than one name. My GIA cert says "Old Mine Brilliant" but it was listed under cushion in the search engine. I''ve seen other stones with the same cut listed as different names. This stone on GOG is almost exactly like my stone but different size... http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/2172/ the GIA cert for that stone is "Cushion Brilliant".

One thing I can say for certain... you want to find a facet plot that looks like the first one and not the other three. If you notice, two of these cuts have only 4 pavillion mains. The third one down has 8 but they''re positioned differently.

Well that''s intro to 101 omc... I''d call mark and email him a pic of the plot you want and the stone you want and make sure you ask for 8 pav mains.
