you need a loupe to take some real (real) close up pics.

To find any inclusions it may have! I have a VVS2, I *still* haven''t found those bad boys!!

1st reason:

To say "I have one" when the jewelry store cannot seem to find theirs...

Perry

2nd reason:

To say "Mine works a lot better - it has higher magnification" for the jewelry stores who only seem to have a low power one (although they do not tell you that it is low power).

ps Now you know two "sad but true" stories from my wandering through several dozen jewelry stores...

Because you never know when one may come in handy... Especially when trying to read that small print when buying a car from a dealer...

Doh, me consumer.

4 lighting campfires on sunny days

Because it's just the THING to do.

To check your prongs

....to scare or impress jewelry store clerks.

Also excellent for reading the small print on medicine bottles!

simple answer...cause my stone is too small that i cant see its ideal cut.

or may be buying a bigger stone a better answer

To really warrant the price of the IF diamond that you bought (anyone who comments on the ring must use the loupe)

Why no prizes??? I went shopping on Madison Avenue and ended up in one of the biggest names of them all and the sales rep who was helping me HAD NO LOUPE! She had to borrow it from someone else...so that''s why I want one!

To learn to identify your diamond if you ever have to leave it with someone you know how and have the equipment to check it when you get back.

To check your prongs

Great answer.
I will expand on it to include looking for damage or weakness in the rest of the ring and also to check for damage to the diamond.
