Hey guys,
Thanks ahead of time for the advice.

First things first: I want to buy from a B&M store. I've been to a whole bunch of them, and like Shane Co. the best. If you REALLY dont like Shane and have a REAL reason to do so, please let me know.

Details (IGI):
Princess Cut
.83 Carat
VS2, G (I have a hard time seeing any inclusions under the glass)
5.03x5.00x3.67
Symmetry: Excellent
Polish: Very Good

Ring: "shank cut?" tiffany setting, platinum.

Diamond Cost: $3390
Ring Cost: $495

What do you guys think?

edit: Apparently when you click preview, only the first word of your thread title stays... sorry. Can't seem to change it now. Supposed to read: Another "Am I getting a good deal?" Questions (Shane Co.)

IGI is known to be softer in color and clarity grading so you might want to take that into account. A G VS2 might turn out to be H SI1 or worse and that is factored into the cost of the stone. Vendors discounted stones with reports from labs other than GIA/AGS.

Also, not really much information here, not even the table size, crown height, and it is impossible to judge the cut performance of a princess based on numbers alone. Will need an Idealscope/ASET image to do that.

If you like it, request that it be independently appraised.

It might be ok but not enough info to go on, what I would suggest you do if you prefer to buy from a store is to buy an ASET scope, it will help you judge the cut quality of any diamond and they are simple to use.
