I realize a search turns up lots of threads but none seem to answer my question.

I am planning to put a diamond on a very thin ~2mm band. I understand that platinum is more durable but it''s also more pliable, meaning a delicate ring might get warped out of its perfect circular shape. A white gold ring is harder to scratch and bend out of shape, but it would also wear thin eventually.

In regards to this concern, which material should I pick? TIA for the advice.

As you know each material has its advantages and disadvantages. I can tell you that I have a very thin band with three sided micropave on my three stone ring. It is white gold and I have had absolutely no problems with it after more than a year of ownership.

I think WG would be more durable for everyday "hard" wear, while the Plat. would work more if you are more delicate with your hands. Some of your decision may be dicatated by the ring designer since some only work in certain metals for certain designs.
