This isn''t likely to help your current desire for a ring, but definitely the best promise ring I''ve seen on PS can be seen here.![]()
That is the cutest thing I have EVER heard!Date: 9/5/2007 5:20:46 PM

I did have another ''promise ring'' when I was 9, my then boyfriend made it for me in clay - it was painted yellow with a big red blobby bit on top. I still have it somewhere.
I remember we''d picked our children''s names and everything - we had a long discussion about how to have babies which we were both totally horrified about (he lived on a farm so we knew). In the end we decided we''d only have to do it twice and we''d just have to turn the lights out!![]()

I''m not really much of a jewelry person, so I don''t really want the promise ring until the real promise is made!

I agree with this statement 100%. I never had a "promise ring"... If my FI bought me a ring (before the ering) it was never called a promise ring... it was just a nice presentDate: 9/5/2007 4:56:40 PM

If you''re ''promising'' to get married some day, isn''t that what engagement is? So wouldn''t that make it an engagement ring? If it''s just because they want a ring, why not just get a ring. It doesn''t have to have meaning attached to it!
Agree! I recently had an aquantience recieve a "promise ring" and was more than perplexed by it''s meaning. When it was explained to me I looked over my shoulder at my house and said "ah well, this must be my promise house then!"Date: 9/6/2007 1:32:12 PM

LOL! This is my thought process as well. I feel as though for younger women/girls (HS or under) it''s fine, but anyone "of age"? Cop out!Date: 9/6/2007 1:32:12 PM

Seems silly to get a ring that says ''I promise to propose to you one day''. Then couldn''t you get a ring that was ''I promise to promise to propose''... and so forth? Or maybe I am just delirious from lack of breakfast... LOL!![]()

Seriously, to each his own... but for me, I never wanted one. Sure, I wanted jewelry... rings, necklaces, etc. etc. Never wanted *A* promise unless it was *THE* promise!
OMG, too funny! I have never heard of them referred to as that, but the name makes sense...Date: 9/6/2007 4:18:05 PM

I''ve heard them called ''shut-up rings'' too, something bought to buy the guy time while keeping the girl happy.I DEFINITELY don''t want one of those!![]()
