Another questionable jeweler?

Well..for those of you who have followed my saga of trying to reset my diamond, you will know that I have had NO luck finding someone who can/will do it. Finally a couple weeks ago, I did find a jeweler, who said he would order what I wanted from Stuller, and reset my diamond if I''d like. I ordered the solstice head (which will be modified), and a thinner(narrower) shank. He said it would take about a week to come in . He called today to tell me it arrived yesterday, so of course I raced down there to see. Turns out he ordered a .35 carat head (HUH? I told him a 2 carat size head). BIG difference. How the HECK do you mistakenly order a head for a diamond under half a carat when I gave him the exact number for the 2 cfarat size?? He admitted it was his fualt, and called Stuller to see when they could ship out the right head. It took 9 days for this package to arrive, and now he is hoping to get it on Friday (highly unlikely). I then noticed a sign saying he will be closed from June 28, to August 4th for Holidays. I chuckled, and said to myself "just my luck". So..now I likely have to wait until sometime in August to have the diamond reset. At this point, I think I''m gonna put my ring up for sale, and buy a diamond already set in the perfect mounting..either that or give it to charity!! Sorry..just had to post, since it''s one thing after another, and the diamond seems to be stuck in it''s ugly setting for what seems an eternity!!

You already know I think your solitaire is anything but ugly, right ... but really sorry to hear about your experience! Are you nervous about having him do the work now?

Personally, I don''t see how a jeweler can close up shop THAT LONG and have people''s work tied up in there while they are twiddling their thumbs waiting to get it. I understand one, maybe two weeks, but a whole month?!?

Beau~you''ve not seemed happy with the way your diamond has been set. Maybe you need to look at something different, such as a halo. Perhaps the solitaire look is just not pleasing to you. What do you think?

Stuller ships stock items, like their solstice heads, by FedEx overnight service. Orders that are placed by 5:00P local time will arrive the next day. It shouldn't take 9 days. What's the modification you're doing?

Stuller does business with lots of jewelers about the country. Is there someone else who you could use who may be more deserving of your business?

Rising Sun, I do like the solitaire, when the diamond is the main attraction. The way mine is set, there is too much gold, thengs (head) is terrible, and the diamond looks small (because of how it is set). I am open to a halo, but refuse to spend $1800-$3000 for a setting. They all have to be custom made, and I want a mount I can see, right there and then to decide whether I like it or not. One jeweler here rambled on about how Tacori was overpriced for what you got, and said his benchman creates pieces that blow Tacori away, and the price is much better. He quoted me $ 2800 for a halo that has a plain gold shank, no engraving, no diamonds..NOTHING. I hate to see what the cost of a "decorated" ring would be! So..I decided I LOVE ths solstice head when modified..(there are pics in another thread I started), and then I could have that added to any type shank I want. Now, I am wondering if I should move on (once again) away from this jeweler who screwed up the order from Stuller. It''s frustrating when you just wanna get it done..and you wait, and wait, and now wait some more because of a stupid mistake on his part. If it comes in on Friday, he is gonna rush to have it set that day, before he closes up shop for weeks. That kind of scares me, however at times, I feel like I don''t have alot of options!
