I just got an egagement ring with an old mine cut diamond (.85ct, SI1, G). I didn''t know anything about mine cut diamonds before (or diamonds for that matter!), so i have been reading up on this site and elsewhere to find out more about them. I love the ring and the stone. At first i was weirded out by the culet, but I''ve gotten used to that and like it now that i know they are common to this type of cut. The one other thing about it, though, that i wonder about is that the flat top (the table?) is at an angle rather than being flat. I think you can see it pretty well in the pic below. Is this common in a mine cut diamond? is it a problem? Should i just learn to love it the way i learned to love the culet?
