Well, I just purchased it and it is on the way, going to have to go and pretend im interested in some local AGS jewelers to compare with once I have it in hand, hopefully they will let me view theirs in natural light.
I am just generally looking for opinions but a couple of questions in particular:
Anybody see anything in the picture that I will include of the inclusions that I need to be on the look out for.
Anybody see anything that may be visible from pavilion side views that I need to be on the lookout for?
What do you think of the price? and why do you think it is lower than other diamonds of similar quality that I have found?
My stone is approx .65 ct
It is AGS Ideal Cut 0 (good ole "000" I am putting so much faith in)
Color 2 (H)
Clarity 4 (VS2)
now to the good stuff:
depth of 61.9%
Crown height of 15.1%
Pavilion Depth of 42.7%
Table of 55.9%
Crown Angle of 34.4
pavilion angle of 40.7
Lower half length is 75
Star length is 52
Girdle(faceted) is 2-4.6%--yielding I understand to be thin-slightly thick on AGS measurments.
Culet-none
Flu-negligible
I have studied extensively and everything looks beautiful so far, now onto the somewhat busy VS2 inclusion plotting--
See Attached file.
I really want a diamond that has no visible inclusions even from side pavilion views, I'll have it in a couple of days to verify that, but I would like some thoughts on what I should really be looking for. Afterall I might not see it now...but maybe later she or I will.
Also, I plan to create a three diamond ring. in 5 years getting another just like this one, and then in 10 getting a 1ct center with F or G color and VS1 clarity. Any thoughts on whether they should look good side by side? I'm not sure on the color as not many jewelers around here have AGS cert stones--and obviously others are not really accurate representations (or so I am praying).
All of this came for the low price of 1650, which seemed a bit of a red flag to me as it was several hundred below equivalently speced stones.
Any opinions- I am having the indented natural covered by the prong as well, more so to protect it than to hide it honestly. Well let me know! I am sure we will chat again in the future!
Finally, Blue Nile customer service is amazing, I will admit the site lacks alot of good features and anlysis of stones, and they very blatantly a drop ship operation, but still, there are great people there, a real honest and helpful group I would say do not overlook them, particularly for these smaller stones.
