Hello everyone!

Though this is my first post, I have been lurking for some time.
I've been amazed by the amount of knowledge and how helpful everyone is on this site. So thank you all for contributing to an internet anomaly (informative, friendly and free)

I've tried to do my homework in selecting a diamond for gf's e-ring and I've taken the plunge and put in an order.

However, I'm getting buyers nerves and would like to ask everyone's opinion on the diamond I selected. If I have picked a complete pup please let me know (and why) as there is a comprehensive returns policy. Obviously I intend this to be the most important diamond I ever buy so I don't want to make any rookie mistakes.

GIA
0.9 ct
E VS1
Ex cut, Ex Sym, Ex Polish
Depth 59.8%
Table 58%
Crown Angle 34.0
Crown Height 14%
Pavilion Angle 40.6
Pavilion depth 42.5%
Star length 50%
Lower half 75%
Girdle Medium
No Culet
No fluorescence

Sorry this is another rate my diamond post. I hope to contribute meaningfully soon.

The HCA cut adviser won't work. It just gives a warning about girdle may be dangerously thing, which this one isn't per the GIA report.

Someone more experienced will have more insight. This 60/60 diamond article may be of some value:
https://www.pricescope.com/wiki/diamonds/60-60-proportioned-diamond

I have a shallow diamond 58% depth and a huge table. It's very bright and "silvery," not very firey though. It's a little dark very close-up but looks great on the hand.

Hi OP, HCA is 0.7, so complimentary angles. Did you or can you get idealsope image or ASET? If not, get appraisal though someone who can do those for you and do a complete work up on your diamond. Specs are very nice and GIA XXX. Good so far. I know its hard to wait...how do you plan to set?

Good HCA score so it has potential. 0.6 TIC when I ran it without a warning. TC1987 perhaps you entered something incorrectly? I see no red flags & also wish we had idealscope or aset images. Did a gemologist at the vendor's site look at the stone for you? You should see your own appraiser as luvdajules suggested.

Thanks for the responses. I was a bit concerned the diamond was too shallow?

Unfortunately I didn't get the ASET or IdealScope images. It seems that very few of the UK sellers I visited provide these images. Though maybe I went to the wrong places.

As for setting I was thinking a fairly narrow platinum band with microset diamonds on the shoulders and a 6 prong setting. My Gf's fingers are on the small side so can't be anything too chunky.

You're right about the waiting - it's killing me. All very exciting/terrifying.

Hey everyone

All went very well and she said yes. Thank you for all the advice available on pricescope.

Thought Id update you with a photo of the ring...

The ring turned out beautifully! Congratulations on your engagement. May you have a long and happy life together!

Congrats and thanks for stopping back in! Looks great! :wavey:
