Another Littleton, CO tragedy

I''m not sure how many of you have seen this in the news but there was a shooting at a middle school in Littleton yesterday. A distraught man in his 30''s came onto the grounds when school was letting out and kids were going to their buses, asked 2 children if they went to school there, and began firing shots. One little girl was injured but has been released and another boy is said to be in critical care. The gunman was stopped because he was tackled by 3 staff members at the school. They are truly heroes.

I can''t help but wonder if this man chose this school because of it''s relation to Columbine (being located on Columbine dr. and in Littleton as well) Cops have been EVERYWHERE today to ensure a repeat does not happen. They are around all the schools in the Denver area.

But I just wanted to ask you all to send your good thoughts and prayers over to Littleton today, not just Deer Creek Middle School, but the entire community as a whole. I can''t even imagine what they must all be feeling today.

This makes me so sad. I''ll never understand why these sick, twisted people are put on our Earth to begin with.

Thats terrible. Those poor little children. Its wonderful that the staff tackled the gunman. They are heroes.

I just can''t stop thinking about it, I''m almost 101% certain my children won''t be going to school anywhere near Littleton now, I don''t think I could ever not have that in the back of my mind. I know it could happen anywhere but it seems that Littleton just attacks people like this because of Columbine, I know there have been a couple smaller incidents in the last couple of years.

I know, this is such a horrible experiene. I''m surprised more people aren''t talking about it at work, esp since I work soo closely with JeffCo.

This is the one huge downfall with CO living; public schooling isn''t the best. They are poorly funded, and one of the lowest ranked educational systems in the country.

I''m not saying because of this, the shooting happened; just a side note.

When DH and I are ready for children, we''ll be looking into private schooling.

We were going to look into Chatfield because we heard the schools over there were so good but it''s just too close to Columbine for me. We''re in the Cherry Creek School district right now which we''ve heard some good things about so will probably just go there
