another "help me find a sapphire" request!

Hi everyone, I''ve been reading lots on this forum (I usually just read/post on Rocky Talky and SMTR) but I thought this was the most appropriate place to post this request...

I have a birthday coming in September and am considering a little birthday gift for myself. At this point, I''m investigating the costs and I''ve already contacted the famous and fabulous Lesley at WF.

She is on the hunt for me as we speak. But I thought I could get some good suggestions here as well! Here''s what I''m thinking about...

WF''s bezel pendant http://www.whiteflash.com/Fine-jewelry/Pendants/Full-Bezel-Pendant--SETTING-ONLY_669.htm in white gold with a sapphire in it instead of a diamond. I think I''d like a stone between .5 ct and 1 ct and I''m fine with it being heat treated since that will help keep the price reasonable (I don''t think I can afford a natural stone). I want a nice medium blue once it''s set. Not cornflower and definitely not dark. And I want it to sparkle like crazy (so well cut and nice clarity).

I saw this one and thought it looked along the lines of what I want to spend/the color I like (might be too dark once bezel-set though??) but I''m open to all suggestions. I really like the sapphire that AJS has...but I would give Lesley a chance to see what she can comes up with. It may be a little less expensive that way. You don''t want to go through the headache of buying a stone and sending it back if you don''t like it. It can get costly. I say this because I am in the process of doing this myself.

Love that sapphire pendant from WF. If you did the DBTY route, I would alternate blue sapphires and diamonds. That would be gorgeous too!

thanks cushioncutnut! I totally trust Lesley to find something wonderful. Just thought I''d pass her a link or two if anyone came up with something. I agree--the sapp/diamond DBTY would be gorgeous (but probably more than I''d want to spend...). The looking part if half the fun huh?

Hi SDL! Yes, I love simplysapphires! Just sent Lesley a link http://www.simplysapphires.com/html/imagesblue2006/bluerno25-sm.html of a small lot of sapphs that are probably about the right size for a DBTY necklace. I think I''d do all sapphs, no diamonds. I told her it would be cool to make a little pair of bezel earrings out of 2 of the extras...

I''m getting quotes from Lesley on the 2 ideas - a sapphire solitaire bezeled pendant (probably with the chain that slides through the back instead of being fixed and the stone being under a carat), and a DBTY made with sapphires (white gold, 16" length).

Which would you ladies choose and why? I can''t decide. I want both... hee hee
