I bought the plain 3 band ring from Ebay. The seller described it as brand new. I just received and inspected the ring. There are no really noticable scratches on the ring, however it is not as shiny as a new ring should be. The colors are kind of dull. What could be the reason? Would gold lose its shiny over time even if one doesn''t wear it? Thanks

Also want to add, the inscription inside ring is such:

"750....50....6 digit serial number"

This is all that is inscribed inside the rose gold ring. I read from another post that there should be also "Cartier...SNOE...and some kind of heart sign" I dont have these on my ring. It does have "le must de cartier" on the outside though. What does this mean?

Do you live near a Cartier store? if so, you can always take in to ask if its the real deal. I once bought a gucci bag off ebay and was concerned it was not a real gucci. I took it to the gucci boutique and told them that someone bought it for me online and i wasn''t sure if it was legitimate. They took a look at it and confirmed that it was not theirs. Thankfully, my ebay seller had a refund policy and i got my money back.

However, if you got a good price and you like the ring, will it bother you if its not authentic?

Could you post a pic?

I was going to venture that it might be 9ct? But the 750 rules that out. Sorry I don''t know?

This is an older--or different--version of the trinity ring. It may not have the same markings that we posted in the other thread. Best to take it to Cartier and ask. You could also ask them to polish the ring for you.

Okay so I took the ring to the Cartier shop in Tokyo (where I''m living currently) and they said that they cannot authenticate any jewelries! I was quite surprised because I know people here have mentioned that we can take the ring to the shop and ask them. They did say they can clean it for me, but I couldn''t do it right then because the shop was closing.

Here is the link to my purchase. What do you guys think? I know the pictures are fuzzy but I also know that it''s hard to take close hand photos if you are not used to it. The seller had really good feedbacks so I thought it should be okay....In her email she had mentioned that she works at Nordstrom and that is where she had won the ring. Did I do anything dumb?
