I was on NuvaRing for years and I loved it! I never felt terrible side effects: no headaches, no acne, no weight gain...and it had the added benefit of only needing to be thought about onec every three weeks.
I did have a wee bit of break through bleeding in the beginning but within a year my periods were very light with little to no cramping.
If I could have stayed on it, I would have. Unfortunately my body began absorbing NuvaRing and the pill incorrectly. Now, I have an IUD which I am very happy with.
I think any method you chose is going to have the risk of side effects, you just have to figure out what you can live with.
