Anniverary Band Help--Can I use my engagement ring?

I really love my engagement ring. Its very unique. I have been married 13 years and on our 15 yr anni we will be renewing our vows possibly in the Caribbean. I figure it will take me some time to design and pay for a new ring. I don't have a solid band, so I have been wearing replacement bands for the passed 10 years. The originals are from Ireland and are engraved and cannot be sized or it will ruin the ring. They were ordered too small for me and too large for my hubby, and because I have rheumatoid arthritis, after the first 3 year of marriage or so, I was no longer able to wear it.

I would really love to take my original ring and turn it into something amazing. I was wondering who has done this before and how I would go about it? I have three sons and I am Irish so I would love to put three emeralds in there...

How about a PPF with emeralds as side stones using your original diamond as the center or having a emerald and diamond wedding band maybe even an eternity band.

I think it would be more cost effiicent to just buy a whole new ring. Or perhaps I'm confused? Are you trying to melt down the ring you have and create something new with dimaonds and emeralds? If so instead of doing that I would just contact IDJ and look at their green (emerald or tsavs I believe) eternity bands. They are beautiful and very affordable.
