I noticed on the Jewelers Mutual''s wesbite under the FAQ''s regarding exclusions from the policy it states that antique jewelry is not covered by the policy. Does anyone here have an antique stone/ring that they purchased and is insured with JM? Has anyone with an antique stone/ring made a claim for such a ring? If so, will you please let me know what your experience has been? Thanks!

Have you tried GemShield? They have other terms and lower premiums than jewelers mutual. i use them to insure my estate ring.

I emailed JM a while back about my 2.73 antique cushion and they said they would cover for the value of the stone, and would replace with like quality. EX: mine was a 2.73 K Si1 cushion and they would replace with one with specs as close as possible. However, they will work with a jeweler of your choice too. Say you purchased through JBEG or OWD or SS.. they would issue a check to them to replace a stone of similar quality.

Hope this helps. And btw, if you need any further explainations.. just email the companies they are very helpful in answering questions like this.

They do *not* insure antique settings. They do insure antique stones. When I asked why they don''t do the settings, they explained that it''s so hard to replace an antique setting, that they just stopped covering them. So, an antique stone in a new setting is something they''d cover, but an antique stone in an antique setting woudn''t be.
