Hey,

I''ve been reading all the valuable information on this site for some time and with the help of Brian the Cutter and Sheerah from whiteflash we''ve narrowed it down to 2 stones. Both stones are within $42.00 of each other. I''ve seen a few unmounted stones locally and don''t think I''m color sensitive. My mind tells me to go with the safe VS1 stone but the other stone is .2 larger. Both are eye clean. I just can''t decide. Any input would be appreciated.

1st Stone - Eye Clean 3-5 inches as per whiteflash
This is the one that is the safe bet in my opinion. Its H&A ACA, VS1, H, and 0.912 in size. $5533.00

2nd Stone - Eye Clean 3-5 inches as per whiteflash
This is the one that is not as much a safe bet as the first one. Its H&A ACA, SI1, J, 1.137 in size. $5575.00

All the info would be greatly appreciated

Both look great, but only you can decide whether color or size is more important to you and your girl. I wouldn't worry about the SI1 if WF says it's eyeclean, they don't lie!

Are you the lady who will wear it (hard to tell by your post, but you say "you" don''t think you''re sensitive)? If so, and you don''t think you''ll mind the color, go for the bigger one. It seems by your post the inclusions on it are no more visable than the VS1.

HI:

Go with "your safe" bet since you will be wearing it!

I''m the guy getting it for the girl :P

Ok.

Then you need to know if the color will bother the girl, she''s the one who will stare at it all the time.

If you are unsure, and/or can''t find out, be safe and go wiith the H.

Maybe this will Help.... They took this shot for me.

The link didn''t work for me, but it doesn''t really matter. Color preference is very personal. No one can say definitively what another might like/see/tolerate. So again, unless you can find out, go with the H.

Sorry Try this....

Oooh, that''s a tough one since they both look beautiful. I am very color sensitive and like higher clairty stones, which draws me towards the H, but I would also want to break the 1 carat mark if I lived in a city where 1 carat was fairly customary.

Is there any way of determining whether she''s color sensitive? Also, which part of the world do you live in and what''s her ring size? Those answers might help us figure out which one is better suited for her.

If WF said they are eyeclean I would trust them. IMO the ? would be how she feels about the color. I would love the larger stone, the J does not worry me as long as its the ACA! But I have an I e/r ring and a J pendant. So color isn''t a big deal to me.

Her Rings size is 4.5 and we live in Edmonton, Alberta Canada.

As far as color sensitive goes I don''t think she is sensitive. We did look at some loose diamonds locally 1 being a .82, Si1, F vs. .84, Si1, H and we could only tell the difference when they where face down on white paper. Face up we could not notice the color difference. I know J is lower but i was hope the fact that its a H&A ACA would make the J color seem negligible. I think as long as I cannot tell the color difference between the centre diamond and the side stones it should be fine. Its going to be mounted in a ring similar to this....

If shes not color sensitive, my vote would be the larger stone , all the way, 100%!! The ACA H&A is beautiful!
Oh by the way, mine is a J H&A ACA- SI2, I can't see anything in it!

HI:

Wow--I grew up there.

Ah, nice. Since she's a 4.5, they'll both look great on her. I'm an American living in BC, and don't know what the avg. ring size is in Edmonton, but here on Vancouver Island, 1 carat seems to be a rarity - most are less than.

Can you get to a Birks or a Tiffany's to check out a J color in natural light (away from their halogen lights). If you and she can handle a J from one of those stores, then go for the ACA J! If the J's don't work, I really like Diamondseeker2006's suggestion to go to a 1 carat I/VS2.

Thx for the info so far guys/gals....

WF have an inspection period also, so if the larger one is verified eyeclean, then a superbly cut I colour like that should look great! You could always return it in the unlikely event you weren''t pleased.

Thanks for all the help!!!! I ended up going with the H&A ACA, .912, H, Vs1. It will be mounted in a custom setting like the one pictured above. Setting will have 10 ACA, F-G, VS and 0.50CTW. Total wieght being 1.4CTW.
