This site has been more than helpful so as a "former" lurker I cannot thank all the people that contribute enough. I've learned probably way more about diamonds than I thought I would have when I started this process.

So I narrowed my solitaire e-ring selection down to two diamonds and need some final guidance. From the pictures on the site, the 2nd looked best to me. After a gemologist review, #1 was the gemologist's favorite due to being the whitest face-up. Note both diamonds are "eye clean" and within $150 of each other. What does everyone think? Am I nitpicking at this point?

I like the cut stats and I-Scope on # 2 a little (VERY little) better, but I personally would go with #1 because I prefer the I color, and my guess is that no one would be able to tell the difference in the cut of the two stones with the naked eye, especially once they were set. Then again, I'm an amateur, so I'll let others comment on that.

#1 for the I color

Ditto #1.

Thritto!

Thanks all for the replies. With all the feedback I am getting, plus the recommendation from the gemologist, I am leaning toward #1.

My normal reply would be I color because I don't like the tint lower than that in a round brilliant, but as I watch the videos, that I color stone looks pretty tinted to me, too. I'd ask them if it is low I color. If both were the same color, I like the cut of the J slightly better.

Hi diamondseeker,

The gemologist said that diamond #1 had a higher I color, almost closer to an H, and also faced up the whitest.

From the photos, I prefer #2. But since I can't see them in person, I was going to but a lot of weight on the gemologist's recommendation. If he said he liked #2 the best, it would've been an easy choice for me. But hearing his preference, and the feedback from others, it kind of has me thinking that #1 is the way to go.
