I'm so glad I found pricescope. Awesome site with so many people always quick to give advice.

Anyhow, after about three weeks, I've finally narrowed it down to two settings:

The one that most PSers know fairly well: Vatche X Prong
or
Maevona Soay

I've attached pictures, but you can get a better look at the Soay from their site: www.maevona.com

I know most people will say to choose the setting that I think she'll like more. But honestly, I think she'd like them both pretty much equally. It's just that she'd have a different appreciation for each one.

Vatche for the simple design with a little twist (x prong) that will always be classy.
Soay for a bit of uniqueness, but not too out there as with some other contemporary designs.

Both settings will be using the same .90 ct round diamond.

So please help sway me towards one ring so I don't go crazy! Thanks!

Here is the Vatche X Prong:

And this is the Soay:

Vatche X prongs hands down! classic and you can find many wedding band to go very well.
I''m more of a contemporary modern design person, but I''m not in love with the second setting so much

Definitely the Vatche.

Wow. I thought Soay was a really beautiful ring. But I guess no match for the Vatche.

I vote Vatche.

I was really hoping to like the Soay because seems like the Vatche is so popular...but it
is the Vatche hands down for me. I''m not liking the asymmetry of the Soay (and trying
to find a wedding band that matches - you probably have to stick with what they have). There
are a variety of pretty wedding bands you can wear with the Vatche.

I would need to see more angles of the Soay honestly. If it would be easy to set a band up next to it even though it is asymetrical looking then I would consider it. I do not like the prongs and how they are shaped though. Really takes away from the stone to me. But having an asymetrical looking ring right now that actually sits nicely against my anniversary band, I actually like that look.

So right now I can''t say which I would pick only based on the two pictures provided.

You can see a motion video of the ring on the maevona website. And they do have the matching wedding band: a bottom and top part. But if I do get it, I''ll probably only purchase the matching bottom band. I might get a thicker larger version of the top half for myself so we''d have matching wedding bands.

But I do love the fact that with the Vatche, she''d have a lot of choices for the wedding band. But I think a plain wedding band would look the best sitting next to the simple vatche. Extremely classy, I think.

Vatche all the way!

I admit after looking at hte ring more I really like it a lot. I am into different things and honestly find the Vatache to be a bit boring. I know it is classy looking, but I like more to rings than just simple settings.

I think even with having to buy a matching band, you need to think about what she likes and her personality. Is she more mainstream type or does she appreciate something more like the other one.

not much help, eh?

Definitely Vatche - it has a more classic, timeless look and they are so well made!

If you (and your girlfriend) want something with classic lines but with contemporary feel, have you considered a tension setting?

I vote Vatche!!

Vatche! Best of luck!

Here''s a setting a bit similar to the Maevona, but IMO, much sleeker. The price is for platinum, so I''m guessing less for the 18k white gold version:

Scholdt 16ZZ1

Ebree - I don''t really think she''d like the look of a tension ring. A little bit too contemporary. But thanks for the suggestion. That Schodt looks very similar to a ring I was contemplating before: http://www.solomonbrothers.com/jewelry_115101 ArtCarved Solitude. And my local jeweler has it for around $500, too. That was my third choice. I decided against it when my jeweler had it for over $1k, but she called me and told me I can get it for ~$500. So that might be in the running now.

D&T - Some of those do look nice, but a lot of them are tension set, which I don''t think she likes. But very pretty either way. Just not her.

Anywho, it looks like Vatche gets the popular vote. But still...I need to be 100% SURE!

Thanks for all the helpful opinions everyone. Always trust PSers to lend a hand in choosing the right ring.
