And the feedback is in for the HW eBay ring...

oh dear.... too bad the buyer didn't check out PS before buy

It is so sickening when you can't warn someone. It also wasn't terribly smart to pay $31k to someone who had only sold a few 98 cent items. They didn't even show the HW paperwork.

She's relisted it already and the description hasn't changed! Still a "geniune Harry Winston". I'm inclined to post a question asking why it still says that when it's been verified that it's a fake. Only now there's no returns.

Well, for what its worth I reported it to ebay as a copyright/fake trademark thing. I suggest you guys do the same, if they get multiple reports maybe they'll take it seriously.

I reported it, for whatever good it will do. Good for the buyer to have actually taken it to HW to check up though.

I wonder if it was even paid for and shipped or if the buyer just asked HW if they sell G's, got a no answer and killed the deal? Can a non-paying buyer post a feedback?

For an acution that ended last Thursday (it's Tuesday now and we had a holiday weekend in between), this seems awfully fast to pay, ship, receive, show it to HW, pack it back up, ship it back, receive and inspect on the other end and relist, not to mention ask for and get a refund for $31,000. Surely no one would post a negative feedback before they ask for (and hopefully get) a refund would they? This timeline doesn't work.

Odd. I don't see any fdbk regarding the ring?

The negative feedback is gone...

It was removed - the plot thickens!

I don't know anything about selling on ebay - how does negative feedback get removed? Who decides it can be removed, and under what circumstances?

I believe if the dispute is resolved to the satisfaction of all parties - if the seller agrees to a return, or knocks an agreeable sum off of the auction - the feedback can be removed/modified.

That said, it should still show up on ToolHaus, which is why I NEVER make a big bid without checking TH.

You're absolutely right - even if they had marched right down to HW, it would have taken more time than this. And now with the negative feedback removed  - very suspicious!

ETA - the negative feedback doesn't show on toolhaus -http://toolhaus.org/cgi-bin/negs?User=planteen_publishing&ref=neg30

In the description, she states there is a 7 day money back return policy.

Yes, if both parties can come to a mutual agreement, feedback can be revised, or even removed. But there will be a blurb by ebay stating to that effect. The only time ebay will remove a negative in its entirety is when there is a threat, vulgar language or feedback extortion. Does anyone remember what it said?

I have been on ebay long enough to know that they will not remove an auction based on someone's say so. They do not authenticate items and would not have a clue between a genuine Harry Winston and a fake. The only time they remove auctions is through the Vero program. If Harry Winston was a member and called to complain, it would be removed immediately.

For the life or me, I have seen that auction before. I wish there was an ebay archives where I can look it up. JMO, but I think someone stole all the pictures in this auction, and when it sells, just sends out a cheap copy of the ring. Does anyone know how to find old ebay auctions past 60 days because I know I have seen it under a different sellers name where it was listed a few months ago and sold for around $34,000. I would love to find it and compare.

Maybe notifying HW would be the thing to do? Let their legal dept handle it.

I cannot believe they relisted with the same description. I guess they plan to resell until they sell to someone who doesn't authenticate with HW.

What kind of idiot would pay $30k when the listing says this:

"DO NOT ASK FOR COPIES OF PAPERWORK, GIA NUMBER, OR HW SERIAL NUMBER - THIS WILL NOT BE GIVEN OUT! ONLY THE WINNER WILL RECEIVE THIS INFO AFTER PAYMENT IS MADE."

Yeah, sure......

It basically said that the buyer took it to Harry Winston, was told they only sell D,E,F stones and this was a fake. There was no vulgarity, threats or anything.

THE PLOT THICKENS...

So they added two pictures.. one on top of a HW portfolio (assuming contains paperwork) and in the Harry Winston Box...

Well the box means it *must* be authentic, right?

I mean, they don't make replica boxes, right?

<snort>

:nono: Shady

I was following up on this auction, and could not find it either in current or completed auctions. It looks like ebay deleted it.

Trademark is one of the few things that they take seriously at Ebay. And that's what I reported.

The listing is gone.

Nice work, ladies! You have hopefully spared some poor person from a LOT of trouble!!!

Ha.. I just looked and they have had 3 user names on ebay:

planteen_publishing Feb-12-12 Present
hellionhost_com Apr-09-11 Feb-12-12
optimized50.408 Apr-15-08 Apr-09-11

Interesting, huh?
